SALEM - Note to the Central Valley Conference: The Sprague Olympians Are Back! After a rocky start to the season, 0-3, the Olympians, 2-3 overall, 2-0 CVC, led 20-7 at half, and cruised in the second half to defeat McKay, 40-21, Friday night at Sprague. The Royal Scots defense couldn’t stop the Olympians ground attack. Sprague rushed for over 400 yards in the game. Sprague’s defense held McKay to 133 rushing yards, and 277 total yards. The loss put the Royal Scots record now at 2-3 overall, 1-1 CVC. South Salem was the first Central Valley Conference team from Salem to make the trek over Santiam Pass to the high desert of Central Oregon for a game against conference newcomer Redmond. The Panthers, 3-2 overall, 1-0 CVC, downed the Saxons, 27-7. The loss puts South Salem in a real hole if they want to make the playoffs this year. The Saxons fall to 1-4 overall, 0-2 CVC. West Salem coming off a heart-breaking loss last week to Sprague, used a 90 yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Jordan Bishop is the first half as momentum to roll over North Salem, 27-3. The Titan defense held the Vikings offense to only 44 yards in the second half. North Salem coming into the game had one the state’s best defenses, but the Vikings couldn’t stop the West Salem offense in the second half allowing 147 yards. West Salem had 231 yards of total offense in the game. With the win the Titans move to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the CVC. The loss moves the Vikings to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the CVC. McNary hosted Clackamas from the Tri-Rivers Conference in a non-conference match-up. The Cavaliers threw for over 300 yards passing and cruised over the Celtics 40-14. With the loss McNary moves to 2-3 overall, 0-2 CVC. In the Mid-Willamette Conference: West Albany keeps on rolling. The Bulldogs, 5-0 overall, 2-0 MWC, beat cross-town rival South Albany, 22-6. The Rebels move to 1-4 overall, 1-1 MWC with the loss. Dallas got it’s first win of the year by pounding Crescent Valley, 49-15. The Dragons are now 1-3 overall, 1-1 MWC, while the Raiders remain win less on the year, 0-5 overall, 0-2 MWC.
