SALEM - Junior Caylin Goss, sophomore Chelsea Reeher, and sophomore Jessica McGraw each recorded 8 kills, as Corban's women's volleyball team swept Cascade, 3-0 (30-11, 30-10, 30-23), on Saturday night to pick up its first Cascade Collegiate Conference victory of the season and extend its winning streak to two matches.

In the opening game, Corban hit a season and match-high .556 (17-2-27) thanks to a match-high 17 kills and a mere 2 hitting errors. The Warriors jumped out to a quick 10-1 advantage behind three service aces by senior libero Becky Horn. Corban then extended that lead to 24-9 before Cascade hit double digits via a ball handling error by freshman setter Amy Thompson. Another pair of service aces by Horn and a pair of kills by Reeher guided the Warriors to the opening game victory, 30-11.

In the middle game, things did not seem to change much for Corban except that the team tallied 13 kills and 3 hitting errors. Leading 15-6, senior Nina Clanton stepped behind the service line and proceeded to single-handedly extend the Warriors' lead to 22 points (28-6) before handing the ball back to the visiting Lady Thunderbirds. Five kills, five Cascade attack errors, and three Clanton service aces accounted for the 13 Corban points that helped the Warriors take the second game by a score of 30-10.

In the third and final game, Corban allowed the Thunderbirds the opportunity to take a game by committing nine hitting errors. Fortunately for the Warriors, Cascade committed eight hitting errors and watched as Corban combined for 13 kills. Following five straight points by the Thunderbird to get within a point (16-15), the Warriors pulled ahead by four (19-15) before allowing a pair of unanswered points by Cascade. With the score at 19-17, the teams traded runs and got to 25-23 before Corban scored the final five points, including a match-ending kill by freshman Colleen Terhune for the first collegiate kill of her young career, to end the game (30-23) and sweep the match.

As a team, Corban registered a season-high 19 service aces -- a mere two shy of the school record -- including seven off the arm of Horn. Six different Warriors recorded at least one ace with Clanton and Thompson each scorching four off Warrior Court.

The trio of Goss, Reeher, and McGraw led the way with their match-high 8 kills each, while seniors Hallie Hofferd and Clanton added 7 and 6 respectively. As a team, Corban hit .284 (43-14-102) with Reeher leading the way with a ..467 hitting percentage. McGraw concluded with a match-high 24 assists, while Horn provided the defense with a match-high 21 digs.

Cascade was led by Shar Agee, Shelby Cullen, and Vanessa Fleetwood's team-high 4 kills each, while Alicia Charles and Amanda Cochran recorded the only other Thunderbird kills with 3 and 2 respectively. Fleetwood guided the Lady T-birds' offense with 13 assists, while Agee and Cochran provided the defense with 10 and 8 digs respectively.

Corban is now 4-11 overall, 1-7 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play.

Cascade drops to 1-15 overall, 0-9 in CCC action.
