SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Oregon State men’s soccer team suffered a hard-luck loss on Friday afternoon, as San Diego State scored in the 76th minute to post a 2-1 Pacific-10 Conference victory at the SDSU Sports Deck. OSU Coach Dana Taylor was pleased with his team’s performance, other than the two goals allowed. “Guys played well and we fought hard,” he said. “It was a good performance on the day, but a hard loss. We made a mistake in the back late in the game. We just made two basic mistakes defending-wise. Other than that, the game played out pretty well.” Trailing 1-0 at halftime, the Beavers (5-4-1, 0-2 Pac-10) tied it in the 66th minute. Senior forward Robbie Findley flicked a ball up to senior forward Bryan Jordan , who drove it past the goalkeeper and into the lower left corner. It was his fourth goal of the season. But, the Aztecs (6-3-1, 2-1 Pac-10) got the game-winner about 10 minutes later on an Omar Persad goal. OSU redshirt freshman goalkeeper Mike Miller made his first career start in place of the injured Packy Deenihan. Taylor credited Miller’s performance, as he made five saves, including a couple of diving stops. The Beavers had to play without sophomore defender Daniel Leach, a Freshman All-American last year, who received a red card in the previous game. Leach will be back in the lineup when the Beavers play their third consecutive Pac-10 road game, which takes place on Sunday at #17 UCLA at 2:30 PM.
