COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Linfield’s men’s soccer team shut out Bethel of Minnesota 3-0 Saturday night for its sixth straight victory since last season.

The Wildcats finished 2-0 in the season-opening Bill Boddington Tournament here, as did host Colorado College, which defeated Simpson of Iowa 3-2 in two overtimes on Saturday. Linfield beat Simpson 6-2 on Friday.

Linfield will play Colorado College Monday at 12:30 PM PST in a non-conference game that is not part of the tournament. The Wildcats will return to Oregon Monday night.

Linfield’s scoring against Bethel:

12th minute: Jordan Togstad on a header to the back post off a corner kick from Spencer Hunter.

16th minute: Adam Jaffe on an unassisted breakaway after he won the ball from a Bethel player.

Approximately 59th minute: Mike Grabast scored his third goal of the season, beating a defender one-on-one for a 12 yarder low to back corner after receiving the ball from Bryan Alford.

Watson praised Chris Nicoletti, Tim Solimano and Togstad for their defensive play. Counting the last four games last season, Linfield has shut out five of its last six opponents.
