Sep-04-2006 19:39Ducks Add Georgia, Colorado to Future Football ScheduleSalem-News.comThe football schedule additions follows a previous announcement from last December that has Oregon traveling to Knoxville, Tenn., for its first-ever meeting with the Tennessee on Sept. 11th, 2010, followed by a return trip to Eugene by the Volunteers on Sept. 14th, 2013.
EUGENE - The University of Oregon has secured home-and-home agreements with two intersectional football opponents to play between 2014-2017, according to an announcement by Athletics Director Bill Moos. The Ducks will face Georgia and Colorado in Autzen Stadium as well as on the road, beginning with the Buffaloes’ visit to Eugene in 2014. Oregon will follow that up with a home game against Georgia in 2015. Under the agreement, the Ducks would return the visits to Athens, Ga., in 2016 and Boulder, Colo., in 2017. The Ducks’ only previous game with Georgia on the football field resulted in the Bulldogs’ 27-16 win in Athens in 1977, while Oregon and Colorado last faced one another during the regular season in 1987. However, the Ducks and Buffaloes have met three times since then in the post-season, including the 2002 Fiesta Bowl. Since 1995, Oregon has played 10 regular-season games vs. BCS-conference opponents, including home-and-home series with Michigan State, Wisconsin and Mississippi State. This season’s Sept. 16th home game vs. Oklahoma completes the series that saw the Ducks travel to Norman, Okla., in 2004, and their visit next year to Ann Arbor, Mich., is a return for Michigan’s Autzen Stadium visit in 2003 that resulted in the Ducks’ 31-27 win. Oregon already is scheduled to play at Purdue in 2008 before hosting the Boilermakers in 2009.
