PORTLAND - Liorah Riutzel had a goal and an assist, helping Western Oregon battle back from an early Lewis & Clark goal to win a 2-1 non-conference women's soccer match on Friday afternoon at Griswold Stadium.

Riutzel picked up a loose ball and scored early in the second half to tie the contest, and then flipped a pass to teammate Amy Weberg who lobbed a shot in over the keeper with less than 13 minutes left to seal the win for the Wolves.

The win moved WOU's record to 3-1-1 on the season, while Lewis & Clark fell to 1-2.

The Pioneers struck first, scoring on Alison Hudson's shot just nine minutes into the fray. The hosts kept the Wolves out of the goal the rest of the half, despite nine shots fired by the visitors.

WOU outshot the Pioneers for the match, 16-6. Nora Germano had nine saves for L&C, while WOU goalie Ally Meyer had three.

"It was a scrappy win," commented WOU Co-Head Coach Rod Fretz. "We had to battle back, on the road, and that isn't always easy. It was nice to be able to come back and win."
