Two Eugene Teens Drown in Pacific Ocean Near Yachats

A sad weekend as vacation turns to tragedy.
(SALEM, Ore.) -
A group of teenagers were on a rocky outcropping near Adobe Resort on the south end of Smelt Sands State Park when two of them were swept into the ocean.
Their friends were not able to help them and both subsequently drowned.

Names Released, Search Continuing For Man Missing Off South Jetty at Yaquina Bay

Oregon State Police have identified the two people who were washed off the end of South Jetty at Yaquina Bay near Newport Wednesday afternoon.
The body of a 33-year old woman was recovered but her 34-year old husband's body has not been found.

Update: One Person Drowned; Search Ongoing for Possible Second Drowning Victim - South Jetty at Entrance to Yaquina Bay

(Newport, Oregon) -
Search efforts are starting to wind down following this afternoon's search for a male reported missing off the South Jetty at Yaquina Bay near Newport.
The body of an unidentified adult female was found in the ocean southwest of the jetty by US Coast Guard personnel. Oregon State Police, Newport Police Department, Lincoln County Sheriff's Office marine deputies and US Coast Guard are involved in the investigation and search effort.

One person has drowned and a second is reported missing Wednesday afternoon off the South Jetty at Yaquina Bay near Newport.
Oregon State Police, Newport Police Department, Lincoln County Sheriff's Office marine deputies and US Coast Guard personnel are jointly involved in the investigation and search.

Unidentified Man Drowns at Wagon Wheel Park

The victim is described as an adult, Hispanic male.
(MOLALLA, Ore.) -
A drowning at Wagon Wheel Park in Molalla, led to the response of both Molalla Fire personnel and Clackamas County Sheriff's deputies tonight at about 7:00 p.m. this evening.
The Park is located on the Molalla River at the intersection with Highway 213. The circumstances of the drowning are unknown, according to a press release issued Sunday.

Missing 14-Year Old Swimmer Recovered From Willamette River (VIDEO)

The search for the missing swimmer came to a close today with the discovery of the boy's body.
(KEIZER, Ore.) -
UPDATE 1:00 p.m.: The Polk County Sheriff's Office, with assistance from the Oregon National Guard Helicopter have located the missing 14 year-old boy who disappeared Monday night while swimming with friends in the Willamette River near Spongs Landing.
The body of 14-year old Joe Engichy, was located at 11:00 a.m. today in about seven feet of water.

Longview Man Drowns Saving 3-year Old`s Life

(KELSO, Wash.) -
Police in Washington say 20-year old Alan Heck of Longview is missing and presumed drowned after saving a three year old from drowning in the Cowlitz River near Kelso.
Several agencies responded around 3:00 p.m. to the east side of the Cowlitz River, near the old Kelso Water Treatment Plant. Witnesses called 911, reporting that Alan Heck had dived into the water and rescued a three-year old girl who was in distress.

Body Found at Clatsop Beach Identified as Portland Man

(ASTORIA, Ore.) -
63-year old William Don Harris from Portland, Oregon has been identified as the deceased male found on Clatsop Beach wearing a life jacket with an unoccupied kayak nearby Wednesday evening.
On June 24, 2009 at about 6:45 PM, Oregon State Police troopers and Clatsop County deputies were dispatched to a deceased body that had been located on Clatsop Beach, about five miles north of Seaside.
Investigators at the scene surmised that the man was likely kayaking prior to his death.

Salem Drowning Victim Recovered from Santiam River

The improved conditions allowed the dive team to enter the water with reduced risks and hazards to the rescue team.
(SALEM, Ore.) -
Members of the Linn County Sheriff's Office Dive Team recovered the body of 20-year old Anthony Dupuis of Salem Thursday at 1:40 p.m.
Mr. Dupuis was reported missing on May 16th after jumping into the Little North Fork of the Santiam River at Salmon Falls Park.
