At 6:49 pm, Salem Police responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic crash on River Rd. S. near Cricket St S.
The deceased pedestrian has been identified as 43-year old Timothy James Crone, who appears to be transient. Next of kin notification have been made of the incident, Salem Police Lt. Jim Anglemier said.

Two Die from Crash into Tow Truck on Highway 211

The crash left the highway blocked at milepost 7.5, between Kropf Road and Barlow Rd., east of Woodburn.
(WOODBURN, Ore.) -
Oregon State Police responded to a fatal traffic crash Sunday evening on Highway 211 near S. Kropf Road. This is the highway connecting Molalla and Woodburn.
Senior Trooper Duane Larson with Oregon State Police, told Salem-News.com, "It was a two-vehicle crash, two vehicles involved, one vehicle sustained two fatalities."

Fatal Traffic Crash - Highway 97 North of Madras

Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into an early Friday morning single vehicle fatal traffic crash along Highway 97 about twenty miles north of Madras. The crash resulted in the death of a 26-year old Madras-area man and serious injuries to a female passenger.

Update: Driver Arrested - Fatal Traffic Crash - Highway 101 North of Port Orford

A Portland-area woman died Tuesday morning when the pickup she was riding in crashed off Highway 101 about one mile north of Port Orford on the southern Oregon coast. The 57-year old driver was arrested for Manslaughter in the Second Degree Thursday by Oregon State Police (OSP) in relation to the ongoing investigation.

Today at about 2:30 AM, Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers responded to a single vehicle fatal crash on SR 138W near milepost 4, which is just east of Elkton. 138 West is a linking State Route between the Oregon Coast city of Reedsport and Sutherlin on Interstate 5.

Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into a Friday afternoon two-vehicle fatal traffic crash in the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 near Phoenix. The crash resulted in the death of a Ashland-area man and minor injuries to two other people. The victim's name is being released following confirmation of next of kin notification.

Fatal Pedestrian-Involved Traffic Crash - Highway 99E South of Woodburn

Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into Saturday night's fatal pedestrian-involved traffic crash along Highway 99E just south of Woodburn. The victim's name and residence information is being withheld while troopers try to locate and notify next of kin.
According to OSP Sergeant Corey Simons, on April 16, 2011 at approximately 8:27 p.m. a witness driving southbound on Highway 99E near milepost 33 braked to avoid a pedestrian in a dark, unlit area who ran across the highway toward the west side shoulder. A 2005 Dodge Neon driven by Robert Moore, age 56, from Woodburn, was following behind the witness and swerved toward the highway shoulder to avoid a rear-end collision and struck the pedestrian.

100-Year Anniversary Prompts New Discussion of Workplace Rights & Safety in Oregon and beyond
(EUGENE, Ore.) -
Oregon workers and workplaces are safer as a result of a tragedy that took place 100 years ago today.
It's the anniversary of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire, which raced through three floors of a New York City sweatshop. It claimed 146 victims - most of them young immigrant women, trapped by a locked door and forced to jump to their deaths. The fire prompted a host of government-enforced workplace protections, but many were fought by the business community.

Richard Kreitzer Marion County Assessor Found Deceased at Home

The family appointed a spokesman to issue a statement this afternoon on the steps of the Marion County Courthouse (below).

Marion County Assessor Richard Kreitzer was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound at his SE Salem home on Tuesday evening.
A friend called Deputies to the residence after he arrived and became concerned that the overhead garage door open, but he was unable to find his friend.
