George Fox University in Oregon Closes for Day so 1,800 Students, Staff Can Serve Communities

(Newberg, OR) -
For a 12th straight year, George Fox University will close its doors for one day to allow students and employees to assist nonprofits, public agencies, churches, retirement homes and individual citizens during a day of service on Wednesday, Sept. 8.
About 1,550 students and 300 employees are expected to participate in the 12th annual Serve Day. Teams will do a variety of projects – including construction, painting, weeding and cleaning – for 75 sites in Washington, Multnomah, Clackamas and Yamhill counties. Stops will include the Oregon Zoo and the Portland Rescue Mission in Portland; the YMCA and Cat Adoption Team in Sherwood; the MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility in Woodburn; Medical Teams International in Tigard; and the McMinnville Area Habitat for Humanity.

George Fox University President David Brandt Announces Retirement

Brandt to retire in June after nine years at Oregon’s third largest private university.
(NEWBERG) -
David Brandt, the 11th president of George Fox University, will retire June 30th after a four-decade career in Christian higher education. He announced his decision to the George Fox Board of Trustees at its annual fall meeting held Oct. 20th-22nd.
Now in his ninth year at George Fox, Brandt has guided the university in the expansion of programs, facilities and locations. During his tenure, the university has grown from 2,345 students to 3,185. \

George Fox Sets Record Undergraduate Enrollment Record

Fall enrollment hits 3,185 total, with 1,633 traditional undergraduates in Newberg.
(NEWBERG) -
The second-largest freshman class in George Fox University history helped the university this fall set a record for traditional undergraduate enrollment.
The university’ traditional undergraduate population grew to 1,633, up three percent from last year.
George Fox’s overall enrollment is 3,185, the second largest in school history. Last year, the university enrolled a record 3,210. The university has enjoyed dramatic growth since 1986, when 549 students attended.

Princeton Review Names George Fox to Best in the West List

For the third consecutive year, George Fox University has been honored by The Princeton Review as one of its “Best in the West” schools.
(NEWBERG) -
George Fox is one of 123 colleges and universities listed from the 15 western states as one of the "Best in the West" schools.
The Princeton Review rankings consider academics, quality of life, admissions selectivity, and financial aid. George Fox students were invited to participate in an online survey hosted by the magazine. They were asked to voice their opinions about the university, with questions in each category.
George Fox received a score of 85 out of 99 in admissions selectivity, an 84 out of 99 in academics, and an 85 out of 99 in quality of campus life.

George Fox Named One of America’s Best Colleges

This is the 18th year George Fox has been ranked as one of “America’s Best Colleges” by U.S. News & World Report. The university made the magazine’s first ranking in 1988.

George Fox University ranked 19th in its category in the latest ranking of “America’s Best Colleges” by U.S. News & World Report magazine.
Sixty-three colleges and universities are selected in the top group comprising the first and second tiers.
George Fox also is ranked in the “Great schools, great prices” listing. George Fox is ranked ninth for value, based on a formula that relates a school’s academic quality to the net cost of attendance.
