Service Dog Given To Wounded Vietnamese-American U.S. Army Captain

Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) provided a service dog to Vietnamese-American United States Army Captain James Van Thach, who was severely wounded in Iraq and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal for his wounds.

(WASHINGTON DC) - Capt. James Van Thach Vietnamese-American US Army Captain James Van Thach walked away from a career as an aspiring lawyer when he graduated from Touro Law Center in 2002, after the terrorist attack on our country on September 11, 2001.

He became a U.S. Army Infantry officer and served two arduous years fighting for his nation in Iraq.

Military Honors for War of 1812 Veteran, Gabriel Walling, in Amity

Dedication of bronze plaque to Gabriele Walling noting his ‘War of 1812’ military service.

(AMITY, OR) - Gabriel Walling served in the War of 1812 Gabriel Walling (1788-1857) is interred in the Amity Pioneer Cemetery which is a registered historic cemetery with the state of Oregon Parks and Recreation Heritage Programs.

Until recently, Gabriel Walling was not recognized as a veteran of the ‘War of 1812.’
