"Should Scotland be an independent country?" The "No" side won, with 55.3% voting against independence.

(SAN FRANCISCO) - scotland My wife and I just returned from a week's stay in Edinburgh, which was shortly after the Scottish independence vote. The Scots voted to stay with England 55 to 45 percent. There was no rioting in the street over the vote results.

The "no" campaign always led in the polls but the "yes" campaign was gaining ground. Then Prime Minister David Cameron, Ed Millbrand, and Nick Clegg, the leaders of the three major British parties, signed a pledge to devolve more powers to Scotland, if the Scots rejected independence.

Monmouth Man Killed in High Speed Crash

(INDEPENDENCE, Ore.) - Polk County Oregon Crash A Monmouth man was killed Monday afternoon in a single vehicle accident on Corvallis Road near Haley Road south of Independence.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office says at 3:00 p.m. deputies, Polk County Fire District #1, and Oregon State Police were called to the scene of crash involving a 1989 Honda Civic.

Oregon Couple Arrested for Drowning Child in Bathtub

Noelle Watkins died shortly after medics arrived on scene.

(INDEPENDENCE, Ore. ) - BathTub Death Police in Independence have arrested two people in connection with the drowning death of a 2-year-old child earlier this year.

Lt. Rick Igou says 26-year-old Rebecca Watkins, and 26-year-old Codey Campbell, both of Independence, were arrested in connection to the February 24 drowning death of Watkins' two-year-old daughter, Noelle Watkins.

Police on Alert Between Salem and Independence After Road Rage Reports

The incidents occurred between July 31st and August 4th in the area of South River Road near Orville Road and the bridge entering Independence.

(INDEPENDENCE, Ore. ) - police lights The Independence Police Department and Marion County Sheriff's office are looking into reports from different motorists of road rage and aggressive driving.

One of the reports indicates two vehicles appearing to be acting together. They were parked waiting on the side of the road for another motorist to come by.

Burglary Suspect Found Deceased

Evidence shows the man was driving away from the scene and died of an accidental, self inflicted gun shot wound from the rifle he had just taken.

(INDEPENDENCE, OR) - Death investigation Shortly before 10:00 am on Sunday Polk County deputies responded to the report of a gunshot victim in a vehicle on farmland outside of Independence.

They found the male subject to be deceased with indications that death had occurred well before the reporting party discovered the vehicle.

Body of Buena Vista Man Recovered from Willamette River

(INDEPENDENCE, Ore.) - Body of Marvin Studel recovered from the Willamette River A body was pulled from the Willamette River at Buena Vista Saturday afternoon. Officials say the deceased man was later identified as 63-year old Marvin Leonard Studer, a resident of the Buena Vista area.

Polk County Sheriff's Office deputies got the call around 2:30 p.m. and responded to the reported sighting of a body floating in the Willamette River. Buena Vista is an unincorporated area of Polk County south of Independence, Oregon.

Theft Suspects in Stolen Vehicle Arrested in Salem

(SALEM, Ore.) - Left : William Farris Right : Michael Sparks Just before noon today, an alert motorist called the Salem Police to report he had observed two males in a silver Mitsubishi northbound on Liberty St NE from Hood St and that the passenger was wearing gloves and looking through a woman's purse. The motorist provided the call taker with the license plate number.

Officers responding to the area ran a check on the vehicle and determined that it had been reported stolen yesterday afternoon from south Salem. Ten minutes after hearing the call, Officer John Manitsas spotted the stolen vehicle driving through the parking lot of Fred Meyer, 2855 Broadway St NE, occupied by two males.
