INDONESIA: Police Failed to Protect Ahmadiyah Mosque from Attacks

Attacks towards the Ahmadiyah seem to be encouraged and justified with the issuance of policies that prohibit any religious activities of Ahmadiyah in Indonesia.

(HONG KONG) - Ahmadiyah Mosque An attack was carried out against the Ahmadiyah mosque on 20 April 2012 in Singaparna, Tasikmalaya, West Java. Reports indicate that the perpetrators were the Islamic Defenders Front.

Police were on scene at the location of the attack, yet they did not take any adequate measures to prevent the it.

INDONESIA: Police Used Excessive Force Towards Protesters in Jakarta

(HONG KONG) - Mr. Susilo Bambang Yudoyono, President of Indonesia Ransacked student buildings; damaged classrooms stained with the blood of protesting students who were naked and beaten and hiding from authorities; this is Jakarta today.

The Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) and Jakarta Legal Aid Institute were both raided by officers of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police and the Central Jakarta Sub-District Police on 29 March 2012 over an allegation that students committed violence during a demonstration.

The tsunami was unleashed by an 8.7 magnitude earthquake according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

(SUMATRA, Indonesia) - Salem-News.com A large undersea earthquake unleashed a tsunami that swept the shores of Indian Ocean beaches a few hours ago.

The earthquake struck 35 km (270 miles) SW (215°) from Banda Aceh, Sumatra, Indonesia; 964 km (599 miles) W (265°) from KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, according to the US Geological Survey.

(HONG KONG) - Indonesia's President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono Wil People were shot in Mesuji village, Lampung, on 10 November 2011; the same day a villager was arrested by the Mobile Brigader (Brimob) for harvesting palms in the plantation area of PT Barat Selatan Makmur Investindo.

When other villagers attempted to release him, the police responded by firing rubber bullets, provoking the villagers.

Amnesty Urges RI to Ban Genital Mutilation

In November 2010, the Health Ministry issued a regulation that legitimizes the practice of female genital mutilation.

(JAKARTA, Indonesia) - Female genital mutilation To mark International Women’s Day on Thursday, human rights watchdog Amnesty International is called on the Indonesian government to repeal a 2010 government regulation permitting “female circumcision”.

The London-based organization also suggested that authorities help eliminate the practice by enacting specific legislation with appropriate penalties prohibiting all forms of female genital mutilation.
