Fatal Traffic Crash - Highway 97 North of Madras

Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into an early Friday morning single vehicle fatal traffic crash along Highway 97 about twenty miles north of Madras. The crash resulted in the death of a 26-year old Madras-area man and serious injuries to a female passenger.

Fatal Traffic Crash - Highway 361 north of Culver

(MADRAS, Ore.) -
Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into a Saturday night two-vehicle fatal traffic crash north of Culver that resulted in the death of a Metolius-area man and serious injuries to ten others.
According to OSP Senior Trooper John Russo, on November 20, 2010 at approximately 7:10 p.m. a 2010 Toyota four-door driven by LINDA ROSS, age 61, from Metolius, was northbound on Highway 361 (SW Culver Highway) near milepost 8. At the intersection with SW Highland Lane, a 1997 Ford Expedition driven by ANDREA OROZCO, age 28, from Madras, westbound on SW Highway Lane failed to stop for a stop sign and collided with the northbound Toyota.

Traffic Stop Leads to Over 20 lbs. of Marijuana Near Madras

(BEND, Ore.) -
A Spokane, Washington man was arrested by Oregon State Police (OSP) Friday after a traffic stop nine miles south of Madras revealed over 20 1/2 lbs. of marijuana concealed in his vehicle.
On Friday at approximately 2:16 p.m. an OSP trooper stopped a 2002 Mercury Cougar sedan displaying Washington license plates northbound on Highway 97 near milepost 107 for failure to maintain a lane of travel. The vehicle's driver was identified as Ryan Michael Buley, age 25, from Spokane, Washington.

OSP trooper arrests Madras man following chase, after he reportedly attempted to hide in a muddy canal near Madras.
(MADRAS, Ore.) -
An Oregon State Police trooper arrested a Madras-area man Friday morning on multiple charges after he crashed into a guardrail and then fled on foot while being interviewed, Sergeant Paul Collinsworth with Oregon State Police in Bend said.
"The trooper chased the man on foot for about one mile before it ended and he was caught trying to hide in a muddy empty canal. Charges included DUII and Failing to Register as a Sex Offender."

Plane Receives Minor Damage During Landing at La Grande Area Airport

Three Men were uninjured, the trio were on a golfing trip to La Grande.
(LA GRANDE, Ore.) -
A Madras man and his two passengers were not injured Wednesday morning when their plane came in too fast for a landing and stopped off the runaway with minor damage.
The plane reportedly came in too fast for the landing and traveled off the runaway before stopping. The plane received minor damage and none of the 3 occupants were injured.

Six Injured in Crash on Highway 97 South of Madras (PHOTOS)

Highway 97 was closed until about 5:00 p.m. in both directions.
(MADRAS, Ore.) -
Six people were injured, some seriously, in a two-vehicle head-on crash Saturday afternoon on Highway 97 just south of Madras near Hall Road.
Oregon State Police Troopers on the scene say some names and other information may not be released until Sunday while OSP troopers continue the investigation and work to confirm identities and their medical conditions.

Fatal Two-Vehicle Accident North of Madras

Oregon State Police is continuing the investigation into the cause of this fatal traffic crash.
(MADRAS, Ore.) -
A Clackamas-area woman died and six others were injured Sunday night in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 26 north of Madras.
According to Oregon State Police, a 2001 Ford F150 pickup driven by 45-Todd Rhoden, from Redmond, was eastbound on Highway 26 near NW Boise Drive at about 10:00 PM Sunday, when it collided with the left front corner and side of a westbound 1995 Toyota Previa van driven by 38-year old Elizabeth Jean Duke from Clackamas. After impact, the van came to a stop on the westbound shoulder and the pickup stopped in the westbound lane.

Police Need Public Help Locating Wanted Madras Man

Several central Oregon police agencies seek information on wanted Madras man.
(MADRAS, Ore.) -
Police are asking for the public's help in locating a Madras man wanted after two separate eluding incidents over the weekend in Jefferson and Deschutes counties.
28-year old Carl Jake Williams III of Madras was reportedly involved in the two incidents on Saturday and Sunday; he is wanted for eluding State, county and city police officers.

One Driver Dies in Crash Involving Two Semi-Trucks

Debris from the vehicles,which consisted of a large amount of tomato juice from the southbound vehicle's load, was spread out across the highway and had to be cleared from the scene.

Police say one person is dead following a head-on crash involving two semi-trucks on Highway 97 near milepost 191. The crash, which closed Highway 97 for approximately 7 hours, is now open to one lane traffic.
This morning at approximately 11:49 PM, A 1996 Freightliner semi-truck and trailer, driven by 43-year old Alfonso Rodriguez-Sanchez of Coalinga, California, was southbound on (US) 97, when for an unknown reason it crossed over the center line and into the northbound lane of travel into the path of A 1989 Freightliner.

Police say a Madras-area man died at a Bend hospital from injuries sustained in a Saturday afternoon two vehicle crash in Madras on Highway 361 at SW Belmont Lane.
Oregon State Police Sergeant Don Wagner says that Saturday around 1:00 PM, a 1981 Honda motorcycle operated by 51-year old Wayne Schjoll of Madras, was southbound on Culver Highway when it was struck by a 1975 Chevrolet pickup driven by 28-year old Jeremy Pollock of Culver.
