Oregon National Guard in Memorial Day Events Around the State

Our Nation’s Vietnam veterans and veterans from all eras were honored.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Authorized by Congress, established under the Secretary of Defense, and launched by President Obama on May 25, 2012, the Vietnam War Commemoration recognizes all men and women who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces from Nov. 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975.

Nine million Americans, approximately 6.4 million living today, served during that period, and the commemoration makes no distinction between veterans who served in-county, in-theater, or were stationed elsewhere during those 20 years. All answered the call of duty.

Dedication of the Oregon State Police Fallen Trooper Memorial

Recognizing the significant impact of the service and sacrifice of our fallen Troopers to the State of Oregon

(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon trooper memorial The Oregon State Police Fallen Trooper Memorial that commemorates and honors fallen Troopers will be officially dedicated in Salem this Saturday, Oct. 1.

The Oregon State Police recognizes 33 Troopers who died in the line of duty while serving and protecting the residents of Oregon.

Canby Fire and Police Hosting Annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony

To remember those that gave it all.

(CANBY, Ore.) - Canby 911 memorial Canby Fire & Police will be having our annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony this Thursday, September 11, at Station 62, 221 S Pine, Canby OR. It will start at 8:00 am and should conclude approximately one hour later.

This year is New York/WTC remembrance, and we will be rededicating the Roddy Morris sculpture and it's redesigned name plaques. Our theme will be, "Personal reflections on 9/11, what the day means to me". This year we are also having our personnel share their thoughts on 9/11 from the perspective of a Firefighter/Police Officer.

Many Turn Out to Honor NW Defense Contractor Killed in Afghanistan

Dane Paresi was a contractor with Xe, formerly known as Blackwater, after serving 27 years in the U.S. Army.

(VANCOUVER, Wash.) - Homecoming for M/Sgt Dane Clark Paresi USA (Ret) who was killed in Afghanistan. At least 63 people with the Patriot Guard Riders showed up on a windy and cold night that even had the threat of ice rain, to form a flag line to welcome home another of our heroes, Master Sergeant Dane Paresi.

Master Sergeant Dane Clark Paresi US Army (Retired) of Fort Lewis Washington was working with US forces when he was killed in a suicide attack 30 December 09 at Camp Chapman in the Khost province of eastern Afghanistan.

Police Officer Laid to Rest in Oregon (VIDEO)

Thousands lined the aisles of the New Hope Community Church in Clackamas Friday to honor of this police officer who impacted so many with his compassion and his desire to help others.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - The funeral of Portland, Oregon Police Officer Mark Zylawy, 2-1-08 The life of a police officer who will never be forgotten was celebrated and mourned Friday as loved ones and friends laid to rest 40-year old Mark Zylawy.

This Portland Police Bureau Officer was known on the street as "Z-Man" and remembered by the people he served as a smart and streetwise cop who really cared.
