Vietnam Airport World`s Most Dioxin Contaminated Place

(DOIN NAI, Viet Nam) - Bien Hoa military airport in the southern province of Dong Nai The Bien Hoa military airport in the southern province of Dong Nai has the world’s highest Agent Orange/dioxin contamination level, a meeting heard Thursday.

The office of the national steering committee tasked with handling the consequences of toxic chemical used by the US during the Vietnam War reported at the meeting that the airport has more than ten hectares of heavily polluted soil.

Radiation at El Toro Hangar Unresolved

Marines who worked in the north mezzanine of Hangar 296 were at risk of exposure to Radium 226 and its radioactive decay products.

(IRVINE, CA) - El Toro Hangar 296 An old WW II hangar over 200,000 square feet in area at former MCAS El Toro will not be on any tourist list now and maybe for years to come.

Hangar 296 is one of the primary sites of the TCE plume spreading into Orange County and reason for the base’s placement on the National Priority List (NPL), commonly referred to as the EPA Superfund.

(DA NANG Vietnam) - Agent Orange at Da Nang airport In a seminar yesterday, Vietnamese and US experts discussed the use of In-Pile Thermal Desorption (IPTD) technology in a US$43 million project to clean up dioxin contamination at Da Nang Airport.

As part of the cooperative project between USAID and the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense, the IPTD environmental pollution treatment system would be used to clean up the toxic substance.

Agent Orange Dump Site Is Oregon Desert`s Toxic Legacy

Back in '76, Oregon’s DEQ pushed 25-thousand crushed barrels of chemicals – the prime ingredients of Agent Orange – notorious for its use during the Vietnam War, into unlined trenches, then shoved dirt on top.

(PORTLAND, OR) - 25,513 drums of herbicide waste were stored between 1969 and 1971 at a site next to Alkali Lake in northern Lake County, Oregon One of the most toxic dumps in Oregon remains in legal limbo.

A deal cut by the state with the company that owns the site has now been dropped. And the Department of Environmental Quality has no plans – or money – to clean it up.
