Search and Rescue Teams Rescue Fallen Injured Climber on Mt. Hood

The climber’s name is being withheld while attempts are made to contact her family.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Mount Hood Sunday at 11:33 a.m. the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team responded to a fallen and injured climber above Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood.

A 35-year-old woman, climbing with a group near Crater Rock slipped and fell. She fell and slid on glacier ice approximately 300 feet.

Injured Climber Rescued from Mount Hood

The Oregon National Guard flew the climber out to safety with non life threatening injuries.

(MT. HOOD, Ore.) - Mount Hood in Oregon The Clackamas County Sheriffs Office Search and Rescue Team along with Portland Mountain Rescue, Mountain Wave and Timberline lodge employees responded to a fallen climber on Mt. Hood just below the summit.

Body of Canadian Climber Recovered from Mount Hood

"Our hearts go out to the family" - Hood River County Sheriff Joe Wampler

(MOUNT HOOD, Ore.) - Recovery of Canadian climber, Robert Dale Wiebe's body on Mt. Hood, Oregon Personnel from the Crag Rats, Corvallis Mountain Rescue and Eugene Mountain Rescue, were able to successfully recover the body of Canadian climber, Robert Dale Wiebe today.

"We appreciate all of the help that we received from search and rescue volunteers", said Chief Deputy Jerry Brown. "Today's mission could not have been completed without their help."

Search and Rescue on Mt. Defiance in West Hood River County

Two people are currently in an area that is at about 4200 feet, west of Mt. Defiance awaiting search and rescue personnel.

(HOOD RIVER, Ore.) - Mt. Hood The Hood River County Sheriff's Office is currently coordinating a search and rescue mission in the western portion of Hood River County. A phone call to the Hood River 911 Center around 9:30 a.m. from the lost hikers, launched the rescue team.

The hikers, a 23-year old female and 24-year old male, reported that they were lost in about four to five feet of snow.

Snowboarder`s Death on Mt. Hood Under Investigation

Although this death is being investigated as accidental, the exact cause has not been determined.

(MOUNT HOOD, Ore.) - Mt. Hood in Oregon Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Patrol notified the Hood River County Sheriff's office Monday at about 6:30 p.m., that a snowboarder had been found deceased after being reported missing about an hour earlier.

Detective Matt English with the sheriff's office says the snowboarder was later identified as 18-year old Levi Krukowski of Portland.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Suspends search for missing climbers.

(MT. HOOD. Ore.) - Katie Nolan and Anthony Vietti remain missing on Mt. Hood. The search for two missing climbers on Mount Hood is over. The information was released today by Det. Jim Strovink with the Clackamas Sheriff's Office.

"The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, announces with profound sadness the necessity to suspend the ongoing Search and Rescue mission conducted on Mount Hood, in Clackamas County."

Oregon Army National Guard helicopter provides aerial search assistance.

(MT. HOOD, Ore.) - Salem-News.com The Oregon Guard launched a Blackhawk helicopter Monday, in the search for two missing climbers on Mount Hood.

The aircraft is a big help in searching dangerous terrain on days when avalanches threaten rescuers on the ground.

Mount Hood Search And Rescue Pauses For The Evening And Awaiting Severe Weather

Helicopters have joined in the search for two climbers lost on Mt. Hood; Katie Nolan and Anthony Vietti.

(MT. HOOD, Ore.) - Climbers lost on Mt. Hood: Katie Nolan and Anthony Vietti As of 6:30 p.m. the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, ongoing search and rescue effort on Mount Hood, has paused for the evening, according to the agency's spokesman, Det. Jim Strovink.

Sheriff Craig Roberts was on the mountain today and met with family and searchers. Sheriff Roberts emphasized, "This remains an active search and rescue mission, and the Sheriff's Office remains dedicated to this rescue mission."
