Explosive campaign on Change.org calls on Nigerian officials to find and arrest five university students who videotaped themselves gang-raping young woman
(WASHINGTON D.C.) -
More than 85,000 people worldwide have joined a Nigerian woman’s popular campaign on Change.org calling on officials in Nigeria to arrest five men who videotaped themselves gang-raping a young woman.
Adetomi Aladekomo, who grew up in Nigeria and still has family there, launched the petition on Change.org after being sent the horrifying video, which depicts an hour of a brutal gang-rape by five men reported to be Abia State University (ABSU) students.
Sixty-nine percent of those surveyed believe the fear of authority is the major obstacle to freedom of speech and political space, followed closely by the mindset of nepotism and the legacy of Genocide.

The Rwandan National Congress (RNC) and the Democratic Forces (FDU-INKINGI) held their first joint meeting in Washington D.C on September 19, 2011. The meeting was attended by approximately 30 Friends of Rwanda representing various countries and political parties.
Spearheading the conference was Dr. Theogene Rudasinwa, former Ambassador to the US from Rwanda under President Kagame, representing the RNC and Dr. Gerald Gahima, former Attorney General also under President Kagame.
ActionAid is also calling on ministers to address tax policy and domestic resource mobilization so that poor countries can better weather the crisis.

Although I have written only sparingly about the ATF’s misguided attempts to sell and track guns as they went into Mexico, Operation Fast and Furious, I have followed it with some interest.
It is the best example of a sting operation gone bad and as a result, people have died, including one of our own Border Patrol agents. As a direct result of Fast and Furious, Agent Brian Terry was killed with a weapon that was traced back to the operation.
