US Riot Police Detain 10 Occupy Portland Protesters

Riot police in the US city of Portland have arrested at least ten Occupy demonstrators who were holding a peaceful protest rally against the brutality of security forces.

(TEHRAN PressTV) - Occupy protesters attempt to block an entrance to the Port of Oakland, California, December 12, 2011. A 15-year-old boy was among those detained by the riot police on Monday night in Portland, Oregon.

The latest arrests come as local authorities have in recent days launched a crackdown against the nationwide Occupy movement.

The Roommates decision might look like a setback for civil rights, it also has pro-civil-rights implications.

(COLUMBIA, Mo.) - Judge's gavel Can a roommate-seeker be sued for housing discrimination? Last week, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals became the first court in the nation to say, “no.”

The case involved a lawsuit against Roommates.com, a roommate-locator service that asked users to fill out a form stating the sexual orientation of their preferred roommate and whether they wanted to live with children.

Pro-life Evangelicals, Catholics and the Republican Party teach uninformed people the opposite of what is in their best interest.
