Hooley Legislation Would Protect Drug-Endangered Children

Bill would Provide $20 million in Grants for FY 08 and 09.
(Washington DC) -
Today Congresswoman Darlene Hooley (OR-5) teamed up with Congressmen Dennis Cardoza (CA-18) and Rick Larsen (WA-2) to introduce legislation to help children living in homes in which methamphetamine or other drugs are used or manufactured by providing $20 million for Drug Endangered Children grants for fiscal years (FY) 2008 and 2009.
The Drug Endangered Children grants provide money to states to improve coordination between the state and local agencies that provide assistance to children found in homes made dangerous by drugs and to aid the transition of these children to safe residential environments.

Three people are being charged with drug-related crimes following the execution of a search warrant in the Eugene area. Oregon State Police troopers were assisted during the search warrant execution by OSP SWAT team and OSP detectives of the Governor's Methamphetamine Initiative Team.

Weekend Drug Sweep in Salem Lands 15 Behind Bars

Five children were placed into protective custody.
(SALEM) -
On Friday and Saturday, Marion County Street Crimes Detectives and Sheriff's Deputies, in conjunction with the Department of Human Services, made contact at several residences in Marion County where we had received numerous drug activity complaints recently.
During the sweep, 15 adults were arrested and 5 children we removed from known drug houses and placed into protective custody.
A variety of charges were filed.

Police Arrest Wanted Fugitive, Seize Meth During Salem Traffic Stop

He was wanted out of Pierce County, Washington on a felony Child Rape in the Second Degree warrant.
(SALEM) -
A traffic stop in Salem Saturday evening resulted in the arrest of one person after approximately 9 ounces of crystal methamphetamine was located in the vehicle.
The suspect initially provided a false name but further follow-up positively identified him as a fugitive from Washington State wanted on an outstanding child rape warrant.
At approximately 6:15 PM, Oregon State Police Northern Command Center received information of a vehicle believed to have been involved in a drug deal along Interstate 5 in the Albany area.

Three Arrested After Police Find Drugs, Cash in Lebanon Home

This is the third drug related raid at this residence since April 2006.
(LEBANON) -
The Linn Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at 525 Oregon Street in Lebanon Thursday morning.
Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller says officers seized methamphetamine, over $3,000 in cash, scales used to weigh drugs, and drug paraphernalia.
All three suspects are being held at the Linn County Jail on several charges.

Search Warrant Yields Drugs, Cash, False Social Security And Immigration Documents

The search warrant was the result of a three week drug investigation.
(SALEM) -
The Polk County Inter-Agency Narcotics Team and the Salem Police Department Street Crimes Unit served a search warrant in the 3200 block of Edward Drive S.E. in Salem on Thursday.
At the residence, officers found two small children who were being babysat by 19-year-old Maria Michelena Delgado --one of which belonged to her and the other child belonging to her husband 34-year-old Miguel Santiago Hernandez.
Both children were taken into custody by DHS.
The following items were seized during the search warrant:
$14,000 in Cash
58.6 grams of Cocaine
9.1 grams of Methamphetamine
Drug Paraphernalia
Numerous false documents including Social Security Cards and Immigration documents.
Two vehicles were also seized during the warrant.
Polk County Sheriff Bob Wolfe said this is a excellent example of the collaborative effort from the different agencies that form the POINT Team as well as working with Salem police.

Linn County Makes Drug Bust in Albany

Seized in the raid were dealer amounts of methamphetamine, marijuana, scales, packaging material and drug paraphernalia.
(ALBANY) -
Thursday, the Linn Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at 640 SW 3rd Avenue in Albany.
44-year old Robert Lindsay Tamayo and 42-year old Lisa Ann Anderson were arrested at the scene. Both of them live at the Albany residence.
Both Tamayo and Anderson were charged with Unlawful Delivery of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine and Unlawful Delivery of Marijuana. They were lodged in Linn County Jail.

One teenager and one elderly male are in protective custody
(SILVERTON) -
Two people were arrested Wednesday after Marion County Street Crimes Detectives served a search warrant at 407 Jersey St in Silverton. About 7:00 AM, the detectives, assisted by the Silverton Police Department, arrived at the house and began the search.
Inside the residence, detectives located several small bags of methamphetamine as well as materials used to distribute the meth. Also found were other narcotics and other drug paraphernalia.

Roseburg Man Caught With 30 Grams of Meth

Smoke-filled car alerted the Trooper to suspect
(WILSONVILLE) -
A Roseburg-area man was arrested Thursday afternoon at a rest area south of Wilsonville when an OSP trooper spotted suspected drug activity in the man's pickup and later found nearly 30 grams of methamphetamine concealed inside.
On November 9, 2006 at approximately 3:14 PM, Oregon State Police Senior Trooper Michael Iwai was driving through the Baldock Rest Area on the northbound side of Interstate 5 near milepost 282 when he saw mass smoke inside a 2001 Toyota Tacoma pickup. Senior Trooper Iwai stopped and approached the pickup.
When the man inside rolled down the window, he could smell what was believed to be a chemical odor and saw other indicators of drug activity.

NO METH Group Canvasses Downtown Businesses

I.D. theft is one of Salem's biggest commerce-related issues.
(SALEM) -
NO METH volunteers took their fight to the streets this week as they canvassed downtown Salem businesses to educate merchants on the identity theft initiative and also distribute the newly developed “WARNING- For your protection, we ask for ID” stickers.
These black and white “WARNING” stickers were given to over 60 businesses who pledged to enact or enforce policies requiring photo ID with debit and/or credit transactions.
