(SOMERDALE, NJ) - Now-closed Marine Corps Air Station El Toro In the 1960’s, I wanted to serve God and my country and I enlisted in the Marine Corps.

Little did I know that the radiation and chemicals I would be unknowingly exposed to as a Marine would give me cancer. Even worse, I discovered that I am not alone.

Vietnam`s Helicopter Valley: Graveyard of Marine CH-46`s

Five Marine helicopters downed in 'Operation Hastings' were an unforgettable loss.

(SALEM) - The fifth Marine CH-46 to go down in a place in Vietnam that gained the nickname, 'Helicopter Valley' in July, 1966. Vietnam's 'Helicopter Valley' will always be synonymous with loss and sacrifice of Marines who fill some of the riskiest occupations ever imagined.

It is a place of skeletal remains, where five Marine CH-46 'Sea Knight' helicopters carrying the 3rd Battalion 4th Marines, all crashed one day in the summer of '66.

MCAS El Toro: Modern Day Marine Ghost Town

(IRVINE, CA) - Marines dancing on the flightline at MCAS El Toro in 1982. There was a time, a long time in fact, when the best possible stateside duty a Marine could hope for, was Marine Corps Air Station El Toro in Orange County.

It was exciting and fast paced and located close to Laguna Beach. None of us could ever have imagined it would become what it is today.

Radiation Risk to El Toro Marine Veterans

Marines may have unknowingly been exposed to radiation in Hangar 296 at closed California base.

(IRVINE, CA) - Marine Corps danger The former Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) El Toro, California is an EPA Superfund, closed by the Marine Corps in 1999 and most of the former base sold at a public auction in 2005.

There may have been as many as 300 Marines and more unknowingly exposed to radiation from 1969 to 1999 in the Wing Supply Support Division attached to MWSG-37, MCAS El Toro.

Marine Hangar Was `Witches Brew`

MCAS El Toro’s Hangar 296 was “ground zero” for TCE plume spreading miles into Orange County and the only building on the former base contaminated with radiation.

(IRVINE, CA) - Hangars at MCAS El Toro Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) El Toro has been an EPA Superfund since 1990, primarily from the TCE plume from Hangars 296 and 297 spreading into the Orange County aquifer.

Both hangars were over 200,000 square feet in area, constructed in 1944, and used 55 gallons drums of trichloroethylene (TCE) to decrease aircraft for decades.

(CAMP LEJEUNE NC) - Camp Lejeune Marine base in North Carolina Today, accusations were released from the author of the report on the Camp Lejeune water contamination, detailing how the scientific integrity of the report was compromised by redactions.

The redactions were requested by the Navy/Marine Corps and granted by Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry.
