Arizona Western College Goes Solar

Arizona Western College and Main Street Power Announce Completion of 5-Megawatt Solar Technology Installation to drive sustainability, solar education and workforce training.

(YUMA, Ariz.) - Solar power at AWC Arizona Governor Jan Brewer visited AWC to "Flip the Switch" on a 5-megawatt (MW) solar installation that will provide approximately 100 percent of the college's daytime electricity needs.

"As a college that has worked to develop a strong science program, with facilities and scholarships that are the envy of the state, we are thrilled to integrate solar technology into our curriculum and our sustainability plan," stated AWC president Dr. Glenn Mayle.

Gibson Pushes Bill to Help Vietnam Veterans

The bill would move the position of the U.S. government back toward what it was in 1991, when the original Agent Orange legislation was passed.

(DANANG, Vietnam) - Congressman Chris Gibson Congressman Chris Gibson, R-Kinderhook, has introduced a bill to extend benefits for ailments associated with Agent Orange exposure suffered by "blue water veterans" who served in Vietnam aboard Navy ships but did not set foot on land.

The bill, H.R. 3612, is a companion to similar legislation introduced in the Senate earlier this year by U.S. Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.

Vietnam Blue Water Navy: One step closer for VA benefits

The American people needs to be aware of how this horrible herbicide has infected thousands of Naval personnel. We served onboard ship in the Vietnam war zone. We too were infected by agent orange dioxin.

(MEDIA, Pa.) - U.S. Navy A new step forward is achieved for the Blue Water Navy of the Vietnam War. Vietnam Navy veterans who are infected with presumptive exposure of Agent Orange Dioxin soon may realize benefits from Veterans Affairs (VA) compensation for agent orange disability.

Those Navy veterans, known as Blue Water sailors, who never had boots-on-ground, hopefully will see day light at the end of the tunnel.

House Passes Bill Striking Preemptively at EPA`s Regulation of Farm Dust

The bill was opposed by environmental protection and health policy groups.

(BERKELEY, Calif.) - Farm dust The U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday passed a bill (HR 1633) that would establish a temporary prohibition against revising any national ambient air quality standard applicable to coarse particulate matter in order to limit federal regulation of "nuisance dust" in areas in which such dust is regulated under state, tribal, or local law.

Proponents of the bill were concerned about the possibility that the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency would regulate so-called "farm dust," particulates kicked up in the air during normal farming practices.

Exxon Mobil Involved with Urban Food Gardens

Why is the same company that sells the materials crucial for making agricultural poisons, involved in urban gardens?

(CHICAGO) - Exxon Desert  Tanker A group in San Antonio called the Dinner Garden gets some of its funding from Exxon Mobil. Is this generosity?

If Exxon Mobil is doing this to support urban gardens in San Antonio (and elsewhere) for the sake of people's health, I'll eat my sombrero and cowboy hat. Exxon Mobil is, in fact, involved not only in genetic engineering but in its most extreme form yet - synthetic biology.

BCers want a ban that does not affect public health protection or the forestry and agriculture industries.

(KAMLOOPS, B.C.) - Cosmetic pesticide ban Many today are involved in the effort to see a BC cosmetic pesticide ban on the sale and use of unnecessary toxic products that are used on lawns, playgrounds, sport fields, golf courses and gardens. I am a Kamloops Mom who wants all BCers, our pets and the environment to be protected from harmful pesticide exposure.

The Campbell Government did nothing after last year’s on-line public consultation, even though 88% of respondents wanted a ban!

The children of Vietnam Veterans are the innocent victims of Agent Orange Dioxin.
