The people of Wiltz have never forgotten their beloved American St. Nick and celebrated the arrival of an American Saint Nicholas each year thereafter.

In 1944, Cpl. Richard Brookins was in the right place at the right time to help a city heal after years of Nazi occupation.
2009 marks the 65th anniversary of that event, and Brookins will return one last time to reprise his role as the American St. Nick.
The plane's crew reported an electric failure and loss of cabin pressure and was lost in a region of the world known for intense tropical storms and lightning.

An Air France plane has disappeared while flying from Rio de Janeiro to Paris. There were 228 people aboard the plane included several children.
Air France says they express their deepest sympathy to the relatives and friends of the passengers and crew who were on board AF flight 447 on 31 May 2009, which disappeared somewhere between Rio de Janeiro and Paris-Charles de Gaulle.
Amnesty International has called on the French authorities to take steps to reform the current system and create an independent police complaints commission.

French police have been accused of committing gross human rights violations – often against ethnic minorities – for which they are seldom brought to justice, says a new Amnesty International report.
Allegations of unlawful killings, beatings, racial abuse and excessive use of force by France’s police officers are rarely investigated effectively.
