By Henry Clay Ruark for Salem-News.com
U.S. seeks cooperation, discards political confrontation.
(EUGENE, Ore.) -
Confrontation eventually causes catastrophic consequences when pursued via policy means for political ends. Cooperation is commanded for any considerable progress to be competently achieved, for any nation.

Op-Ed: Responsible Revolution Can Reverse Malign Corporate Controls
By Henry Clay Ruark for Salem-News.com
Defense of freedoms demands every citizen's action.
(EUGENE, Ore.) -
Few citizens in our United States completely comprehend how thoroughly corporate control has infiltrated governance, and how it deprives them of treasured Constitutional freedoms.
Apathetic, uninformed acceptance of supposed “the way it is”-status is the stunning reflection of WHY so much, for so many, goes so thoroughly wrong --when it truly didn’t used to be that way.
How did this happen to us?

Fired Up and Ready to Go End Poverty
By Charles Sheketoff Special to Salem-News.com
Invest in the Public Good Through Fair Budget and Tax Policies. The state's revenue shortfall threatens critical public structures. This revenue problem must be met with a revenue solution, not cuts to vital public services.
(SILVERTON, Ore.) -
The morning after the election, I watched a video of Barack Obama telling how, on a rainy morning last June, Edith Childs of Greenwood, South Carolina, energized a room full of people with her chant, "Fired up! Ready to go!" The chant became a signature of the Obama campaign.
With the chant still echoing in my head, I turned to a blog post by an advocate I've admired for years, John Bouman, president of the Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law. Noting that "the State of Poverty is America's most populated state -- 37 million people," the Shriver Center recommended a 12-point plan to confront poverty.

Change Is A’Comin’
Guest Commentary By Bradley Harrington for Salem-News.com
If Obama were truly interested in “creating jobs” he would cut taxes and spending and abolish regulations that hogtie our productive capacity.
(CHEYENNE, Wyoming) -
Millions of Americans have voted for Barack Obama to “fix” our economy and are breathlessly awaiting his inauguration so that he can implement his plans to “Get America back to work.” Are those voters ever in for a surprise.
In a Nov. 22nd radio address, Obama stated that “We are facing an economic crisis of historical proportions” (true enough) and that “We must do more to put our people back to work and get our economy moving again.”
How does our new president-to-be intend to achieve this result? Obama declared that “I have already directed my economic team to come up with an Economic Recovery Plan that will mean 2.5 million more jobs by January of 2011,” and that “We’ll put people back to work rebuilding our crumbling roads and bridges, modernizing schools that are failing our children, and building wind farms, solar panels, fuel-efficient cars and alternative energy technologies…”

Op Ed: `Black Arts` Of Disinformation Threaten Nation
By Henry Clay Ruark for Salem-News.com
Dollar-power drives “dirty jobs” for private interests.
(EUGENE, Ore.) -
Despite driving governmental reform probabilities to new and transformative heights, “the vote” of Nov. 4th revealed once again the real rot now ravaging our democracy.
Heavily increased destructive, damaging, dangerously unprincipled, unethical and malicious political advertising now panders to the very worst psychological factors in communications directly shaping public opinion.
Those perverse applications of positive knowledge are distorting (some think perverting) what should be an essential and ethical democratic pattern and protocol for any responsible citizen understandings.

Government Beats The `Free Market` With Simple Tariff
By Henry Clay Ruark for Salem-News
Foundation of power overwhelms world of dollars.
(EUGENE, Ore.) -
“Free trade” has never been truly “free”. Even its most vocal and varied corporate-interest propagators have always bowed to the potency of government.
They well know they have no choice so long as sovereignty trumps globalization. Those worldly potent-power representatives invited to Washington this week by a “retiring” President Bush know the true nature of the game.
Many have famously (OR notoriously) played the tariff-card whenever “national interest” could somehow conceivably be cited. Bush’s impassioned pleading in defense of ostensibly “free trade” rings false and even foolish in the ongoing rush into globalization now underway worldwide. But then, why is that a surprise ? What else has his regime been providing, pandering, and proving so potently and promiscuously for its full eight years?

Op Ed: Real Outrage Shapes Election On Basic Issues
By Henry Clay Ruark for Salem-News.com
Wit, wisdom, will of real people determines future.
(EUGENE, Ore.) -
Once again that saving grace still remaining as major remnant in our once-potent democratic republic --the free,, open, unfettered, unmanipulated VOTE-- will shape and succor our nation. Or fail to do so.
Apathy, indifference, misinformation and other mad manipulations of honest democratic process must be met with the true outrage --and realistic retribution--they so truly deserve. The vote itself is the very weapon we need.
Youth, minorities, and every other citizen group are setting new records for registration --driven by common concern for realities.

Op Ed: `Socialism` Shades U.S. Business From Capitalist Heat
By Henry Clay Ruark for Salem-News.com
Bailouts for distorted “Free Market” destroy system.
(EUGENE, Ore.) -
Our Founding Fathers set up what was then very definitely “big government” in both concept and coverage intended. They knew only wise governance could accomplish some essential actions, from study of the world’s leading philosophers.
This Presidential election will determine our choice for the coming Century, just as theirs did for their time. We are wise to question how lush bailouts lavished on freebooters simply perpetrate “socialism only for the rich”.
Corporate “campaign contributions” substitute dollar-power for elective authority, conferred by voter choice.

Warrior-Type Ready To Act for “National Security”
(EUGENE, Ore.) -
The most explosive story in U.S. history may be simmering along right under the dark clouds of the coming Presidential election.
The mainstream media have not yet dared to explore what’s obvious in the end-phase of this election: The “Demon-in-the-bottle” has been freed by campaign desperation, to pollute the election atmosphere.
Nobody rational and reasonable in this nation can be unaware of the brewing bloody confrontation almost now sure to erupt in American cities if --once again --more than 40 million Americans are deprived of t
