“Informed Opinion” Shaped By Ethical Learning Process: Part Two
(EUGENE, Ore.) -
Famously, not too long ago, a very wise economist stated: “"Everyone is entitled to his own opinion; but not his own facts."
Daniel Patrick Moynihan can hardly be seen as a radical: His insights are strongly welcomed by all who seek the truth about economics, ostensible science now at the heart of life for all around the world.
Changing World Economy Drastically Alters Everything
(EUGENE, Ore.) -
Did you view/listen to President Obama Thursday as he dialoged intensely “LIVE” with many responsible U.S. citizens re health care issues, costs, delivery, problems?
Reagan “Revolution” Destroyed Pattern For Progress.
(EUGENE, Ore.) -
Oregon again faces desperate destroying slashes in its educational programs, at every level from k-garden through grad-school. “The best and brightest” (!?!) Oregon Legislators are scrambling and scamming and schooling each other again.
They are driven to defensive fortress-walls of still-presumed “political party/principle”, built higher each day, defended by futile press-releases offering excuses.
We should use each channel to good advantage for cooperative dialog vs competitive debate, for further sharing and learning leading us onwards.
(EUGENE, Ore.) -
Few American “middle-class” participants are as yet aware of fundamental forces reshaping world economies in ways sure to either gratify or grate painfully on their once-comfortable growth-assured lifestyle.
The ECONOMIST Magazine reports that essentially shocking new information in epochal research in its current issue.
Oregon Governor nailed down essential difference.
(EUGENE, Ore.) -
One day I happened into the STATESMAN JOURNAL newsroom just in time to witness an historic event. An angry politician had cornered Editor Sprague, was haranguing him, and stated: “...AND my opinion is just as good as YOURS !”.
He was reacting to a Sprague Editorial strongly opposing the politician’s questionable costly project.
Neocon continuance threatens decades of Depression.
(EUGENE, Ore.) -
Never in all of our American history has there been a clearer --but assuredly NOT “clean”!-- example of political subterfuge to promote return-to-power than the GOP salami-slice stuff perpetrated in paralyzed D.C. this past week.
Their destructive self-serving political-survival effort NOW --to force failure on our new President-- truly may well force only decades of Depression deeper than ever experienced globally at any previous time.
“Win By ANY Means” puts Republic At great risk.
(EUGENE, Ore.) -
Wonder WHY we suddenly receive so many negative comments re Obama actions right here on our open, honest, democratic channel for ethical citizen dialog?
Far Right “noise machine” mechanisms --now spread across the entire nation-- make that machination now mandatory for many hard/shell recalcitrants.
They act as-instructed, rapidly and easily,“on order” facilitated by Internet.
Mr. Krugman and his cohorts at Princeton had speculated in the early years of the decade about just such a situation. He, in fact, wrote a book called The Return of Depression Economics -- now revised and reprinted as The Return of Depression Economics and the Crisis of 2008, but he didn't expect it to become reality. Nobody did.
(SALEM, Ore.) -
I'm a cartoonist not a reporter, but when Bonnie King, publisher of Salem-News.com, asked me if I would be interested in covering Paul Krugman's visit to Willamette University Friday, I decided I could fake it.
Both press and citizen dialog needs responsibilities.
(EUGENE, Ore.) -
“Free speech” is the pure-gold coin of democracy. Like any other valuable coin, this one has two sides: The second-one is responsibility coupled with accountability --deeply engraved wherever the freedom-side is found.
President Obama’s inauguration spells out --in dollar and volunteer depth-- what honest democratic dialog, via the Internet and every other possible channel, can achieve.
Many reporters/recorders agree that his potent mandate --so widely recognized it defies denigration-- demonstrates wit, wisdom and will of the American people as still operational.
