Pacifist Sentenced to Three Years for Insulting Egyptian Military

Family and friends told trial was postponed / grave violation of human rights.

(LONDON) - In what many call an outrageous move by the military, family and friends of Maikel Nabil Sanad were told the trial was postponed, while in fact he was being sentenced at the same time - alone.

Sanad appeared in front of the military court in Cairo on charges of "insulting the military by publishing false news about it" and "obstructing public security"

The arrests at Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor occurred on January 15, 2011 during a nonviolent resistance action at the Trident submarine base, which contains the largest concentration of operational nuclear weapons according to the Kansas City Star.
