Bayard Sentenced to 75 Months in Prison for Causing Deadly Crash

The drunk driver had a blood alcohol level of 0.77% nearly three hours after the fatal crash.

Oregon`s Milepost 97 Fire Now 75% Contained

The fire size is unchanged and stands at 13,119 acres.

(CANYONVILLE, Ore.) - The fire had complexities: multiple land ownership including private, state, federal and tribal trust lands; a major power line and natural gas pipeline dissecting the middle of the fire area; a major interstate freeway (I-5) lining the eastern edge of the fire; and three communities directly in the path of the fire.

This was the first large fire of Oregon’s young 2019 fire season.

Suspicious Package Found Outside Recruiting Station in Salem

(SALEM, Ore.) - At just after 9:00 Tuesday morning, deputies received a report of a suspicious package found outside of military recruitment offices in the 3000 block of Lancaster Drive NE.

When deputies arrived at the scene they located a small cardboard box with a note attached to it.

Motorcyclist Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash

(CLACKAMAS COUNTY, Ore.) - Sadly, this type of accident has been seen before, too many times. Sunday afternoon at about 4:48 Oregon State Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a two-vehicle crash on Hwy 224 near milepost 15. It was a fatal.

Officials say the preliminary investigation revealed a Buick Lesabre, operated by 88-year old Violet Sullivan of Estacada, was traveling westbound on Hwy 224 and turned left in front of a Harley Davidson Motorcycle operated by 65-year old Russell Nelson of Portland.

Wild Turkey Causes Fatal Motorcycle crash on Hwy 97

The crash happened approximately two miles north of Moro, Oregon.

(SHERMAN COUNTY, Ore.) - Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2005 Kawasaki motorcycle, operated by 55-year old Vanesa Gunther of Junction City, Oregon, was traveling southbound on Hwy 97 when a wild turkey collided with her after flying into a northbound commercial motor vehicle.

Gunther sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Head-on Crash on Highway 97 Kills Bend Woman

Second vehicle's driver and passenger were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

(KLAMATH COUNTY, Ore.) - A two-vehicle head on fatal crash on Highway 97 Thursday evening claimed the life of a 19-year old Bend resident. July 18th at 7:30 p.m., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the area near milepost 197 in Klamath County.

The investigation revealed that a white 2005 Jeep Liberty was traveling southbound on Highway 97 and for unknown reasons, drifted onto the southbound shoulder.

Two Senate Bills Aim to Curtail Oregon`s Cannabis Surplus

The current administration has been somewhat hostile toward any moves to legalize the cannabis trade.

(SALEM, Ore.) - For farmers and lawmakers in Oregon, too much cannabis turns out to be a problem. However, two bills in the state Senate aim to curtail the surplus – though in slightly different ways.

The recently passed Senate Bill 582 seeks to open a legal path for exporting marijuana while Bill 218 would give more authority to state regulators when determining the criteria for licensing.

Oregon Sees More Newcomers Than Any Other State

(SALEM, Ore.) - A recent report from the Oregon Employment Department found that more people are moving to Oregon than are leaving. The difference between people moving in and out is called the “in-migration” number.

On average, nearly 40,000 residents from California relocate to the state, compared to the 20,000 Oregonians that headed to California, creating a net gain of 20,000 people from a single state.
