Portland- Protest Portland Rejoining the JTTF

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Portland's City Council will meet Thursday to discuss and hear public comment on the resolution to rejoin the FBI's domestic spying program; the Joint Terrorism Task Force.

The Council may call a vote at this meeting.

Portland Police Investigating a Shooting in North Portland

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Detectives from the Gang Enforcement Team continue to investigate this afternoon's shooting at North Williams and Fremont. 29-year-old Kenneth Wonnell Riley of North Portland was shot once in the right wrist and was treated at an area hospital.

Investigators have learned that there was an exchange of gunfire between a vehicle and a group of people on the sidewalk. Investigators do not know if Riley was the intended target and no arrests have been made at this point. There is no suspect vehicle description at this time.

Corban Students and Staff Band Together to Help Terminally Ill Student Graduate

A few credits short, Corban’s Academic Council voted to award Sara Swenson her the Bachelor of Communication degree.

(SALEM, Ore.) - At the Corban University Homecoming celebration in October, Corban senior Sara Swenson gave a personal testimony about her battle with cancer that gave glory to God and moved many to tears.

Swenson was diagnosed with various forms of cancer in June 2009 following her junior year at Corban.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Another event of the long saga of clergy abuse of children involving Roman Catholic priests in the United States has come to a financial settlement this week.

It was announced Friday in Portland that the Oregon province of the Society of Jesus has agreed to pay $166.1 million to hundreds of people abused as children by Jesuit priests at schools throughout the Pacific Northwest and Alaska.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Halfway through Congressmen Blumenauer's speech promoting Portland's bicycle culture, protesters floated a 5 x 10 foot banner to the ceiling of the University of Oregon ballroom.

The banner read 'AIPAC' with an arrow pointing backwards and 'Enviro Justice' with an arrow pointing forward.
