AP reports: "Most Oregon prison deaths unreported to public; 79 inmates died in custody on 2010-2011".

(SALEM) - Oregon prisons A new story about Oregon prison deaths by The AP; Most Oregon prison deaths unreported to public; 79 inmates died in custody on 2010-2011 confirms many things we have reported.

All manner of Oregon prison deaths have not been reported to the public and they won't be in the future, Oregon officials say.

Oregon`s Death Camps: The Prison System

The death rates in the prisons are excessive and a result of the punitive medical care being dispensed or not dispensed to the prisoners.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Prisoner in cell I am not going to identify the prison nor the guard with a moral conscience from which this information comes.

It has come to my attention that the perverse medical care in the Oregon Prison system is in effect severely mistreating sick patients in effect making it a part of the punitive actions against these prisoners.

Governor Establishes Inmate Re-Entry Council to Reduce Criminal Recidivism

Oregon prisons currently house nearly 13,500 inmates, a record number due to tougher sentencing laws and the state’s growing population.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Governor Ted Kulongoski Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski last week issued an executive order creating the Governor’s Re-Entry Council, a statewide leadership group to work collaboratively on improving the success and safety of inmates’ transitions back into society after they complete their sentences.

OSU Students Attend Class Inside Oregon State Penitentiary

Portland State University and the University of Oregon are also participating in Inside-Out.

(SALEM) - A group of Oregon State University students taking a Public Policy course with men in the state’s only maximum-security prison are among the first on the West Coast to participate in The Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program, a national program based at Temple University in Philadelphia.

OSU’s Michelle Inderbitzin, an assistant professor in sociology, received an L.L. Stewart Faculty Development Award in 2005 to receive training in The Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program.

Her goal was to teach a class inside a prison that would include OSU students as well as incarcerated students.
