(BEIRUT The Independent ) -
The Muslim world’s historic – and deeply tragic – chasm between Sunni and Shia Islam is having worldwide repercussions.

Put aside for a moment what you feel about the conflict in Pakistan and who’s right and wrong. Christians are under threat; they are living right in the middle of an unwinnable situation.
(ISLAMABAD) -
In Pakistan, on September 22, 2013, more than 125 people died and around 170 were injured in a bomb attack on All Saints Church, in Peshawar.
Taliban, or one of their affiliate groups, had gone to St. Dominic’s Church in Bahawalpur in October 2001, shot the guard at the gate and then killed 15 people in the congregation. It was the first mass-killing of Christians in the history of Pakistan.
Chinese authorities usually blame outbreaks of violence in Xinjiang on the region's ethnic minority Muslim Uyghurs, who the government describes as "terrorists". But rights groups and experts say Beijing exaggerates the threat to take the heat off domestic policies that cause unrest or to justify the authorities' use of force against Uyghurs.
(HONG KONG RFA) -
Seven ethnic minority Uyghurs have been shot dead by police in separate clashes in China's restive northwestern region of Xinjiang and nine others detained for protesting against some of the killings, an exile Uyghur group said on Monday.
The shootings underscore a trend of increasing violence in Xinjiang, where the Muslim Uyghurs complain of discrimination and religious controls under Beijing’s rule.

(ISLAMABAD) -
Doing journalism in the country like Pakistan, which is dominated by Muslim religious extremists, is not easy, especially when you write about religious minorities.
Pakistan is ranked the third most dangerous country for reporting, and also has one of the highest numbers of journalists threatened, kidnapped and killed.
"Agron Belica’s controversial book, vigorously challenges the conventional view of John the Baptist as little more than the baptizer of Jesus and the herald of his messiahship"
- Dr. Jay R. Crook Author of The Bible: An Islamic Perspective
(WASHINGTON DC) -
It is said that history is written by the winners. As one engaged in research and journalism and who keeps that old saw in mind, I am always interested in new ideas and new interpreta-tions of accepted truths.
This carefully researched study of one of the most important events in human history certainly answers to both of those interests.
