Salem PD SWAT Team Arrests Man in Stolen Motorcycle Case

At least one person was taken into custody.

(SALEM) - Salem SWAT team The Salem Police SWAT team served a search warrant Wednesday evening at a residence in the 2000 block of Trade Street SE as the result of an investigation concerning a suspected stolen motorcycle.

At about 5:30 PM, the SWAT team and several other police vehicles arrived on the scene. The police action closed the street and gave citizens much to be concerned about. 49-year old Anthony Salmons was taken into custody.

(SALEM) - One lane opens on southbound I-5 near Albany--Motorists should still avoid the area Public Works crews worked through the night removing snow and ice from major Salem streets.

Because primary routes are in improved condition the current chain or traction tire requirement will be changed to an advisory as of noon Sunday. Chains are still recommended. Many streets are still hazardous and chains or traction tires may be needed to travel them safely.

Detectives Searching for Wanted Suspects

(SALEM) - Wanted suspects from Marion County, Oregon The Marion County Sheriff's Office has released a set of photographs providing information about wanted suspects. Charges include Rape and Sex Abuse, Criminal Mistreatment, Assault and Manslaughter.

According to a press release: "As a commitment to crime victims, the Marion County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Unit is asking for the public's help in capturing sus pects who have fled to avoid prosecution."

Salem to be in National Spotlight

C-SPAN to reveal Salem history and highlight authors during week-long visit

(SALEM) - Salem, Oregon at night Mayor Anna Peterson, Comcast and the Willamette Heritage Center will welcome C-SPAN to Salem on Tuesday, February 4 at the Willamette Heritage Center Mill as they kick off a visit to record and feature the city’s history and literary life.

At Tuesday’s event, C-SPAN representatives will reveal the stories and segments that will be explored by the national network during their week-long stay. During their time in Salem, C-SPAN representatives will also conduct community and educational outreach.

Salem Police Seek Robbery Suspect

No weapon was displayed; however, he indicated he was armed. No one was injured during the incident.

(SALEM) - Robbery suspect in Salem Oregon 29 Jan 2014 An unidentified male suspect entered the 7-11 Store located at 1690 Market St NE Wednesday evening at about 7:00 PM and robbed it of an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect is described as a white male, 25-40 years of age, 5'08" to 5'10", 170 to 190 pounds, bald head, dark colored goatee, wearing a grey down jacket with a plaid shirt underneath, faded blue jeans, and black tennis shoes.

Sexual Groper in Salem Strikes More Than Two Dozen Times

"Please report any and all suspicious activity to the police department," said public information officer Lt. Dave Okada, "and pass along these tips to your family, friends, and co-workers."

(SALEM) - Sexual Groper in Salem Since late October, a string of incidents have occurred in the Salem area involving a suspect grabbing women in a sexual manner.

So far, 14 incidents have been reported to area law enforcement and the Salem Police Department would like to remind residents of the personal actions they can take to keep themselves safe.

Human Skulls Found At Marion Recycling Center (PHOTOS)

As it turns out, the skulls were reportedly found by Frank Shriver, of North Bend, Oregon who passed away in 1991, while prospecting for gold in the Philippines, just prior to the Japanese invasion of World War II.

(SALEM) - Human skulls found at a Salem, Oregon recycling center When workers at the Mari on Recycling Center Incorporated, located in the 3600 block of Brooklake Road NE, dumped out a cardboard box and prepared it to be recycled, the last thing they expected to fall out were two human skulls.

But when they did, it brought plant operations to a halt and generated a response from the Marion County Sheriff's Office and the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office.
