Salem-Keizer Transit Unveils New Paratransit Vans

The MV-1 paratransit van is the only vehicle in the world built specifically for ADA purposes.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Cherriots Salem Oregon In an effort to better serve people with disabilities, Salem-Keizer Transit has purchased three paratransit vans for CherryLift, an origin-to-destination transportation service for people whose disability prevents them from using Cherriots buses.

The new paratransit vans will reduce maintenance and fuel costs while improving accessibility.

Salem-Keizer Transit Seeking Public Input on New Service Improvements

The new service improvements do not include the return of weekend and holiday service.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Salem Keizer Transit Salem-Keizer Transit is Moving Forward on a robust system redesign based on the results of a comprehensive service analysis performed by the internationally-renowned transit planning consultant Jarrett Walker.

Moving Forward is based on the concept of a "ridership/coverage trade-off." Increased frequency on busy routes equals higher ridership, as more people are able to use transit without lengthy waits.

Salem-Keizer Transit Changes to Eco Refined Oil

Cherriots utilizes approximately 2,400 gallons of lube oil in its diesel fleet.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Salem Keizer Transit Salem-Keizer Transit has taken another step to help reduce the world's carbon footprint.

After a two year test of the product, the maintenance department has begun using Eco Ultra Premium re-refined lube oil in its diesel fleet. Why is this important? The United States produces approximately 1.3 billion gallons of used oil each year.
