Colombo Schemes Military Enclave in Maanthai, Grabs 1,500 Acres of Land

The LTTE-led Tamil civil administration had distributed the lands to land-less people in the region.

(MANAAR, Sri Lanka TamilNet) - Sinhala militarisation and colonisation in the Mannaar district The Sri Lankan military grabbed 1,500 acres of land at Channaar Velimaruthamadu in Maanthai West of Mannaar district.

They are hurriedly putting up a large cantonment with houses for military personnel from the South, according to news sources in Mannaar.

Colombo`s Military Instructs Civil Officials Not to Voice Against Land Grab in Vanni

The British fort in question was attacked and the weapons there were seized by the last Tamil king of the Vanni, Pandara Vanniyan.

(COLOMBO, Sri Lanka TamilNet) - Mullaiththeevu refugees in the Vanni, May 2009. The occupying Sri Lanka Army's 59-1 Brigade took over one third of the five acre land that belonging to Mullaiththeevu District Secretariat during the war.

Now they are refusing to relocate their base from the land situated in the town.

(SALEM) - Issapria or <i>Shoba</i>, reporter from TamilNet and a member of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam - The Tamil Tigers. Issapria, even in death, tells a story of sex abuse, murder and mass deception by the Sri Lankan Army.

She was captured alive, bound, raped, then staged to appear as a dead combatant. Video recorded of her alive, half nude and disoriented, sitting in what appears to be shallow water, proves that she was taken as a captive of the Sri Lankan Army. However there is no question that she died as an army prisoner and the position her body was left in leaves no question that she was sexually assaulted.

(CHENNAI Press Trust of India) - M Karunanidhi Insisting on non-violent means to achieve a separate Tamil Eelam, DMK chief M Karunanidhi today said the now revived Tamil Eelam Supporters' Organisation (TESO) will discuss ways and means to fulfill it.

Karunanidhi said his party had stood by the Sri Lankan Tamils for the past 50 years and his government had even faced dismissal for the Lankan cause.
