If passed, California's Proposition 23 would Suspend AB 32, the Global Warming Act of 2006. The item is on the November 2, 2010 ballot in California as an initiated state statute.
According to figures gathered by MapLight and released today, large contributions to the opposing side keep rolling in and the figures are sizable.

Port of Hood River is the first road operator in the United States to deploy an Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) system based on the advanced 5.9 GHz DSRC WAVE technology platform. The installation of the equipment provided by Kapsch TrafficCom on the Hood River – White Salmon Interstate Bridge, located between Hood River, Oregon and White Salmon, Washington, was completed on September 8. 2010. Kapsch TrafficCom U.S. Corp.’s Managing Director Richard Arce stated, "We are very excited about the Port of Hood River’s decision to be the first agency in the U.S. to deploy a high-performance 5.9 GHz DSRC toll system".

For the seventh year in a row, the Mars Hoax is infecting email boxes around the world. Passed from one reader to another, the message states that on August 27th Mars will approach Earth and swell to the size of a full Moon. "NO ONE ALIVE TODAY WILL EVER SEE THIS AGAIN," the email declares -- always in caps.
The hoax began in 2003 when on August 27th Mars came within 56 million km of Earth the nearest it has been in 60,000 years.

In January 2011 we will observe the 75th anniversary of Simferopol airport. Its history began 21 January 1936, when it was decided by the of Council of people commissars of Crimean Authonomy to create flying field to the north of Simpferopol.
Thus a place was chosen obviously not by chance - latitude sharply 450 N, longitude 340 E. The opening of the first airline route between Simferopol and Moscow took place in May, 1936.

Letter to the Editor: Oregon; A State of Transit Deception

Without real change, Oregon will remain a state of transit deception; superior now but in serious trouble for the future.
(PORTLAND, Ore.) -
Look around the Willamette Valley and you will see the Max train running through Portland, buses riding through neighborhoods, and trains that cross state lines into Washington.
You may see all of this and think Oregon has public transportation pretty well figured out, as most people do, and reside in the comfort that with all the problems our country faces today, at least Oregon can get from point A to point B better than anyone else in America.
