(PORTLAND, Ore.) - cell phones Verizon Wireless said today that consumers and businesses in Oregon donated 15,048 old and no-longer-used wireless phones in 2007 to the company’s HopeLine recycling and reuse program.

The company collected 1,068,000 phones across the country – a record number representing the most phones collected in one year by HopeLine, an increase of 17 percent from last year’s total of 910,000 phones.
