Oregon Hosts World Junior Championships

Oregon freshmen Christian Brennan (400), Maggie Schmaedick (5,000) and Cole Walsh (pole vault) will each be competing, with Brennan representing the Canadian National Team.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - Hayward Field The world’s best junior athletes will converge at Hayward Field this week for the 2014 IAAF World Junior Championships, beginning Tuesday and ending on Sunday, and involved in the fray will be six current and future Ducks.

It will mark the first time in the event’s 14-year history that the world championships are contested on American soil.

Ducks Allen Named USATF Athlete of the Week

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - Devon Allen University of Oregon University of Oregon freshman hurdler Devon Allen was named the USATF Athlete of the week after capturing the 110 meter hurdles title in a stunning upset at the U.S. Outdoor Championships in Sacramento, California, on Sunday, June 29.

Allen also won the NCAA Outdoor Championship in the men’s 110 hurdles in June.

Trio of Ducks Take Home Pac-12 Honors

Devon Allen, from Phoenix, Ariz., set a Pac-12 record in the 110-meter hurdles at the NCAA Championships, clocking a personal-best 13.16 seconds

(WALNUT CREEK, Calif.) - Jenna Prandini Oregon sprinter Jenna Prandini, hurdler Devon Allen and head coach Robert Johnson each were honored with Pac-12 track and field awards, the conference announced, Tuesday.

Prandini was named the Women’s Track Athlete of the Year as well as the Field Athlete of the Year, Allen was awarded the Men’s Newcomer of the Year and Johnson was tabbed both the men’s and women’s Coach of the Year.

Skipper, Keys Lead Oregon Men (NCAA Championships Day 2 Video Re-Cap)

UO runners went 1-2 in the first heat of 1,500 qualifying, with senior Mac Fleet winning in 3:45.90.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - The Oregon men continued to hold serve Thursday in the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and even got a couple of pleasant surprises at Hayward Field.

The Ducks may end up needing them, too, after the second session of the national meet ended in controversy for the host team.

#1 Oregon to Host NCAA Track and Field Championships

ESPN Networks will cover every day of the meet, with Wednesday and Thursday being broadcast on ESPN3, starting at 3:55 p.m. PT.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - The University of Oregon will host the NCAA Track and Field Championships for the second-consecutive year and the 12th time in meet history, June 11-14 at Historic Hayward Field.

Events will start at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. on Thursday and 12:30 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.

Free Shuttle Service Offered for NCAA Track and Field Championships

Fans are also reminded that no alcohol or tobacco is permitted at Hayward Field.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - The University of Oregon is offering a free shuttle for those fans looking for the easiest way to get to and from the 2014 NCAA Track and Field Championships, which will be held at Historic Hayward Field this Wednesday through Saturday.

Shuttles will depart from Autzen Stadium’s south side beginning three hours prior to the first event of the day and will run continuously every 15 to 30 minutes throughout the competition.

Jenna Prandini, a redshirt sophomore, will have a huge say in the Ducks’ attempt at their first outdoor team title since 1985.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - Her burden next week is heavy enough to be worthy of a broad-shouldered thrower from the Oregon track and field program.

Instead, Jenna Prandini will use her fleet feet and springy legs in attempting to score in four events at the NCAA Outdoor championships. The meet begins Wednesday at Hayward Field.

Galen Rupp Breaks American 10K Record During The Prefontaine Classic

Rupp, the 2012 Olympic silver medalist, beat by more than a minute the time from his final 10,000 at Oregon, 27:52.53 in 2009.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - Five-time NCAA champion and 14-time all-American Galen Rupp returned to Hayward Field in rousing fashion Friday night, breaking his own American record in the 10,000 meters during the Prefontaine Classic.

Running a controlled pace before exploding through the final kilometer, Rupp broke the tape in 26 minutes, 44.36 seconds. He beat his previous record of 26:48.00 by nearly four seconds.
