New Report: Comprehensive Assessment of Dioxin Contamination in Da Nang Airport, Viet Nam: Environmental Levels, Human Exposure and Options for Mitigating Impacts

(DA NANG, Viet Nam) - A new report from Hatfield presents the results, conclusions and recommendations of three recent studies on the extent and level of dioxin contamination in the environment.

The report also examines exposure to human populations in and around the airport in Da Nang, Viet Nam.

Pin-Up Girl Raises Big Money For Vets` Health Care

Gina Elise boosts morale for deployed troops and hospitalized vets.

(LOS ANGELES, Calif.) - Sexy Pin-Up-In-Chief Gina Elise, creator of the award-winning “Pin-Ups For Vets” Calendar fundraiser project, recently presented a $15,000.00 check to the Portland, Oregon VA Hospital to improve rehabilitation programs for Veterans and recovering troops.

This was Elise’s third donation to a VA or military hospital in the U.S. since she began her pin-up calendar project in 2007 to help ill and injured Veterans.

Jailed Laotian Group Wanted Help From Government

Several hundred Lao people detained on their way to the capital weren’t dissidents, one man says.

(BANGKOK) - Tuk-tuks drive towards the Patuxay tower in the center of Vientiane, March 17, 2006. An ethnic Lao man briefly detained this month as he and several hundred others converged on the Lao capital to petition the government, says the group was planning to seek help from the authorities rather than stage a political protest, Radio Free Asia (RFA) reports.

“What have we done that is so wrong, that we had to be detained? All we were doing was asking the government for help. I want to live with dignity even if it costs my life,” the man, 47 and an illegal migrant worker in Thailand, said in an interview.

(GUILFORD, Indiana) - Marines enroute to Vietnam The picture accompanying this story was taken in Vietnam aboard the USS Iwo Jima in late 1967. I'm on the left, holding one of the few M-14 rifles that remained in the 1st Battalion 3rd Marine Regiment (1/3) before everyone went to the M-16 rifle.

I also had a West German AGFA camera that was almost impossible to find film for in Vietnam, so this was one of those rare shots that made it home.
