Lectures and Films Planned in Conjunction with Vietnam War Photo Exhibition

A rare opportunity for Oregonians.

(SALEM, Ore.) - The Hallie Ford Museum of Art at Willamette University has planned a variety of free lectures and films for September in conjunction with the exhibition Requiem: By the Photographers Who Died in Vietnam and Indochina, on display August 15 through November 8.

The exhibition features 160 photographs from the collection of the George Eastman House/International Museum of Photography and Film in Rochester, N.Y., taken by photographers who died in Vietnam between 1945 and 1975.

American Combat Veterans Facing Deportation

Warning to Immigrants seeking military service, Get U.S. Citizenship Naturalization before joining the U.S. Armed Forces.

(SAN DIEGO, Calif.) - A scandal of deception and broken promises of citizenship in exchange for military service to past immigrant veterans has been exposed.

The DOD targeted 9,000 non-immigrants in the US in a "pilot" military recruitment program designed to entice young dreamers with promises of US citizenship for military service.

Schrader Applauds Creation of Senate Veterans Committee, Appointed Chair

Interim committee will look at issues facing Oregon’s men and women in uniform.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon National Guard soldiers preparing for a patrol in Kabul, Afghanistan.  Salem-News.com photo by Tim King Senator Martha Schrader applauded the formation of the interim Veterans’ Affairs Committee –of which she was appointed chair this week.

“The list of things we were able to accomplish for our veterans this last session is impressive,” said Schrader (D-Canby).

Traveling Wall and Field of Flags Mini-Documentary (VIDEO)

An exhibit of 1,000 Flags, honoring all who have served, and the traveling version of the Vietnam Wall, made for a memorable event in Albany.

(ALBANY, Ore.) - War Memorial, Traveling Vietnam Wall, Albany, Oregon 7-18-09 A spectacular tribute to the nation's military was in Albany last week at Timber Linn Park, which already has an area dedicated in honor of American veterans.

A miniature but complete version of the Vietnam Wall in Washington D.C. was constructed on the Albany park grounds and thousands made the trip to pay honor to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice while fighting in the Vietnam War.

PTSD CAN KILL YOU

PTSD is buried deep in our brains just like the best of our memories.

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - Salem-News.com I was relieved today, July 17, 2009, to see that the Oregonian, Dr. Karen Seal of The University of California, San Francisco and The American Journal of Public Health have finally caught up with me about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and suicides. I have been writing about this upcoming PTSD catastrophe for at least 2 years.

I accidentally became an expert about PTSD and suicides when I took care of upwards of 1000 PTSD Veteran victims in the Oregon Medical Marijuana Program.

One doctor with heavy influence seems to think PTSD Victims get over it “in a few years”. I just read of a U.S. Ranger, at Point du Hoc on D-Day in 1944, who STILL HAS PTSD.

Fighting for freedom does not mean bombing peasants in another country or napalming civilians.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Clearly the most famous photo taken during the Vietnam War, shows one child whose clothing has been burned from her body. The terror in their faces is the picture worth a thousand words... maybe a million words. The video clip is from the same event. When I was five years old we lived in Canby on the East side of the highway. The west side had all the stores and one in particular called simply The Big Store, which was my favorite.

Major Tribute to Veterans This Weekend in Albany (VIDEO)

Veterans at Timber Linn Park need construction and labor help on the Traveling Vietnam Wall.

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Volunteers are needed at Timber Linn Park in Albany to help construct an amazing tribute for veterans that will be on display through July 19th.

The Oregon Veteran's Tribute is presented by the Linn County Veterans Memorial Association and it takes place through Sunday. It consists of the Traveling Vietnam Wall and the Veteran's of Oregon Field of Flags.
