Violence Spills Over to West Bank; Death Toll Nears 800

Israeli troops have killed two other Palestinians this week in smaller confrontations in the West Bank, territory Israel captured along with Gaza in a 1967 war.

(WEST BANK ) - Gaza Strip Death Toll Israeli soldiers shot and killed three Palestinian protesters and wounded about 100 on Thursday in confrontations with several thousand people demonstrating in the occupied West Bank against a 17-day-old Israeli offensive in Gaza, Palestinian medical officials said.

The Israeli military confirmed troops had used “riot dispersal means” against protesters who threw rocks and firebombs at them and blocked a road with burning tires.

Aviation Official: Air Algerie Flight has Crashed; Changed Flight Pattern Due to Storm

Almost half of the passengers were French citizens, an airline official said.

(ALGIERS) - Air Algerie An Air Algerie flight crashed on Thursday en route from Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso to Algiers with 110 passengers on board, an Algerian aviation official said.

There were few clear indications of what might of happened to the aircraft, or whether there were casualties, but Burkino Faso Transport Minister Jean Bertin Ouedrago said it asked to change route at 9.38 p.m. because of a storm in the area.

Israel Continues to Pound Gaza Strip as Kerry Arrives

The mounting civilian casualties have driven international efforts to halt the third major round of violence between Israel and Gaza since 2009.

“There is no reason to stop here if Hamas continues to threaten, continues to fire,” Livni, her country’s former chief negotiator with the Palestinians, told Israel Radio.

Hamas Captures Israeli Soldier; Death Toll Continues to Climb

The Shifa hospital director, Naser Tattar, said 17 children, 14 women and four elderly were among 62 Palestinians killed, and about 400 people were wounded in the Israeli assault.

(JERUSALEM) - Israel Bombings Hamas's armed wing said on Sunday it had captured an Israeli soldier, as fighting in Gaza led to the bloodiest losses in a nearly two-week military offensive, with some 100 Palestinians and 13 Israeli soldiers killed.

The Israeli military said it was checking on the reported capture, which was announced in a Hamas television broadcast. Israeli television stations ignored the report in their extended evening programing about the offensive.

Israel Takes Down Two Rockets Fired from Gaza

Israel says Hamas has fired more than 130 rockets into civilian areas since Monday night.

(TEL AVIV, Israel) - Israeli Rocket Attacks Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system intercepted two rockets over Tel Aviv fired from the Gaza Strip.

The interception over central Israel occurred on Tuesday evening, according to media reports. Color Red alert sirens had been heard throughout the Gush Dan area of central Israel, including Herzliya.

(JERUSALEM) - 16-year-old Palestinian Mohammed Abu Khdeir Three out of the six Israeli suspects in the murder of 16-year-old Palestinian Mohammed Abu Khdeir have confessed to the crime, police said Monday.

The teen's body was found in the Jerusalem Forest on Wednesday. The Israel Police had arrested six suspects over his death, it was revealed on Sunday after a gag order was partially lifted.

(TEL AVIV, Israel ) - Israeli Missing Teens Israeli naval boats have struck alleged training facilities of Hamas militants in northern Gaza after the bodies of three abducted teenagers were found.

The attacks followed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's vow that "Hamas will pay" for the slayings in the West Bank. The bodies of Eyal Yifrah, 19, Gilad Shaar, 16, and Naftali Frankel, 16, were found in a field north of the city of Hebron.
