One Dead, Five Rescued After Boat Capsizes on Columbia River

The crew of the Teresa D reported rescuing five people from the water, but that a sixth person was still missing.

(WARRENTON, Ore.) - A Good Samaritan and Coast Guard crews rescue five people and recover one person from a capsized boat on the Columbia River Bar, Friday.

Coast Guard Sector Columbia River watch standers received a call, at 9:19 a.m., from the crew of the 27-foot vessel Teresa D, stating that they had witnessed a 25-foot aluminum guide boat capsize on the Columbia River Bar with people in the water and that they were trying to rescue survivors.

3 Alarm House Fire Damages Independence Home

(INDEPENDENCE, Ore. ) - A three alarm house fire damaged a home on Third street Thursday morning in Independence.

Polk County Fire District No. 1 along with the Dallas, and Salem Fire Departments were able to quickly extinguish the fire, before it gutted the home.

Tool Box Causes Salem Civic Center to be Evacuated

(SALEM, Ore. ) - City of Salem employees were evacuated Wednesday morning from the Vern Miller Civic Center after someone found a suspicious device.

Salem Police spokesman Lt. Dave Okada says the black box was just a bit bigger than a shoe box, and was left near a window on the first floor.

After a casual afternoon spent at the Eugene Saturday Market, Terance Walsh was leaving with us for a journey northward. Before we could get to our car, we turned when we heard some hoots and hollers which gained in decibels as a large group of oncoming bicyclists drew closer.

And what to our wondering eyes did appear? Naked people. Dozens of very naked people, riding bikes down the streets of Eugene.
