Haiti University Memorial

Of some 1,500 schools visited to date in the worst hit areas of Haiti, only 85 had escaped severe damage from the earthquake, which is estimated to have killed some 200,000 people, injured many others and left 2 million in need of aid.

After being rejected, NORML was told, “If CBS changes their morals we will let you know."

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - NORML sign Representatives from CBS and Neutron Media Screen Marketing have rejected a paid advertisement from the NORML Foundation, the educational arm of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws.

It was intended to appear on the CBS Super Screen billboard in New York City’s Times Square.

Five of the ten Americans held on child abduction charges were in a Port-au-Prince court today for hearings. The Americans were accused of trying to take 33 Haitian children out of the country to the Dominican Republic last month.

(CALAIS/SALEM) - Afghan refugees in Calais, France Mamad Khan has spent another night sleeping outside in freezing temperatures. He is one of hundreds of young men who have come to this port city to escape desperate situations in countries like Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Somalia, Eritrea, or Sudan.

Calais has become a transit point where smugglers take them on to another country--usually the United Kingdom.

The plight of the Haitian people is now reaching the levels of disparity that exist on a daily basis in Gaza. The difference is that Mother Nature didn't destroy Gaza, the Israeli's did.

Anything Israel does... any military act against a child or mother or senior citizen in Palestine, is totally and completely endorsed by the U.S. government. The United Nations had the courage to submit the infamous Richard Goldstone Report, but in its complicity, the U.S. totally turned the other way and dismissed it.
