Israeli navy attacks international observers, injures Palestinian, on monitoring boat in Gaza waters

Over 100,000 Oregonians Get Pay Raise on New Year`s Day

Still, Oregon is set to retain the second highest minimum wage among all states, trailing only Washington.

(SALEM) - Oregon State capitol More than 100,000 low-paid Oregon workers will get a raise starting in the new year, when a 30-cent increase to the state's minimum wage takes effect.

The increase from $8.50 to $8.80 starting on January 1 will mean an extra $624 a year for a family with one full-time minimum wage worker, according to the Oregon Center for Public Policy.

(SALEM) - A beach near Tangalle, Sri Lanka. Reports claimed Khuram Shaikh and Russian colleague Victoria Alexandrovna, 23, were attacked following an argument with a man at a hotel in the resort. Khuram Shaikh Zaman, of Manchester, died on Christmas Eve after he and his colleague, Victoria Alexandrovna, were attacked by a gang led by a politician in Tangalle, a tourist destination about 100 miles south of Colombo.

Protestors force Sri Lanka military to open cremation ground in High Security Zone

Protesting villagers blocked the access route of southern tourists to KKS. They also blocked SL military vehicles.

(KAANGKEASANTHU'RAI, Sri Lanka ) - Preparations at the cremation site in KKS on Tuesday Resettled Tamils in the eastern part of Kaangkeasanthu'rai (KKS) on Tuesday staged a spontaneous protest against the Sri Lanka military demanding the right of the dead to be cremated in their own cremation ground.

The protestors threatening to carry the casket of one of their relatives to the cremation ground blocked the main access route of the SL military, demanding the occupying army to open the route to the cemetery.
