Sternwheeler Willamette Queen Runs Aground Tuesday Night

Efforts to re-float the sternwheeler will resume in the morning

(SALEM, Ore.) - Grounding of Willamette Queen 12 April 2011 Nobody was hurt Tuesday night when the Willamette Queen ran aground in the Willamette River around 8:00 p.m.

The vessel, a landmark in Oregon's capitol city, struck a gravel bar which held the vessel fast where it currently remains with two crewmen aboard.

Salem Police Investigate Shooting

The suspect fired multiple shots at the victim.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Police Line Salem Police responded to a shooting in the 3400 block of 30th Ave NE. When they arrived, they found a 22 year old Hispanic male who had been shot.

The victim was transported to Salem Hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his leg. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 18-19 years of age wearing a brown flannel jacket with a gray hood and blue jeans.

150th Anniversary of the U.S. Civil War

A century and a half ago the bloodiest war in U.S. history was launched, against itself.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Two Veterans of the Battle of Gettysburg at the 50-year anniversary of the costly event.  150 years ago today, the United States entered into its single most destructive war, one where brothers fought brothers, Americans slaughtered their fellow Americans. 624,511 lives were lost.

People were brutalized. Homes were burned to the ground and people were left penniless and broken, particularly in the south.

Sanad appeared in front of the military court in Cairo on charges of "insulting the military by publishing false news about it" and "obstructing public security"

The marijuana was harvested after being sprayed and sold, covered with paraquat. People smoked it and some became very sick.
