A Preference for Prohibition Lies

Cannabis Prohibition is a lie. The War On (some) Drugs is a lie. Provably a lie...

(EUGENE, Ore.) - No medical marijuana dispensaries for Oregon.  So, I'm curious. All you Oregon voters who voted against Measure 74, the medical cannabis dispensary bill... what is it you want from us cannabists? (And this goes for you voters across the nation that still will not support cannabis bills in any form...)

Lord knows we try. We don't lie, we provide scientific evidence by the ream showing the various citations for cannabis medical efficacy.

Santiam Bicycle, Venti`s Cafe to Host Cranksgiving Event

(SALEM, Oregon) - Cranksgiving Food Drive Poster Avid bicyclist Cory Heintz is partnering with Santiam Bicycle and Venti’s Café to organize what may be Salem’s first Cranksgiving food drive on Saturday, Nov. 13. The event will benefit Marion-Polk Food Share.

“It’s a good time for a good cause,” said Heintz, who first participated in a Cranksgiving ride when he lived in Des Moines, Iowa. Apparently, the event originated in New York City in 1999.

Two Frenchmen Cross the US on Horseback

(FLORENCE, Ore.) - Marc Polier and Augustin Blanchard Marc Polier and Augustin Blanchard, both originally from France, arrived in Florence, Oregon, after a 5-month trip on horseback across the US.

This is not the pair's first long ride. They've trekked on horseback all across Mongolia and the south of France.

City of Beaverton Announces Local Investment Initiative

(BEAVERTON, Ore.) - City of Beaverton Oregon Mayor Denny Doyle will be presenting ceremonial checks to several community banks this Friday at 7:30 a.m. at the Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce (12655 SW Center Street). As part of the Mayor's 10 Point Plan for 2010, Mayor Doyle pledged to place a portion of the City's investment portfolio in local banks.

The City is currently on target to meet that pledge. By the end of November, the City will have deposited $240,000 into each of the seven local financial institutions, for a total of $1.7 million deposited in our local community.
