Fatal Traffic Crash - Highway 99W near McMinnville

Passenger Richard Thomas Leonard Luce, age 24, from Willamina, died from injuries sustained in the crash. He was using safety restraints.

(MCMINNVILLE, Ore.) - Highway 99 crash September 26 2010 Oregon State Police troopers, with the assistance of a multi-agency team, are continuing the investigation into an early Sunday morning single vehicle fatal traffic crash that resulted in the death of one person and injuries to another on Highway 99W just north of McMinnville.

(TRENTON, NJ) - google earth view of flight path Researchers now know that this spring, a 6-ounce Red Knot (Calidris canutus)—a shorebird only two-thirds the size of a city pigeon—flew non-stop for six days and nights, covering 5,000 miles (8,000 kilometers) across the Amazon and the Atlantic Ocean between southern Brazil and North Carolina, shattering the previous known Red Knot record by nearly 700 miles.

In late August 2009, the same Red Knot flew non-stop for eight days between Canada’s Hudson Bay and the Caribbean, a distance of 3,167 miles (5,100 kilometers).

Coast Guard responds to Injuries on Charter Vessel near Lummi Island

One passenger received a concussion while the other passenger had an injured arm.

(BELLINGHAM) - The 127-foot double masted Zodiac The Coast Guard responded to a distress call from the charter sailing vessel Zodiac after its main mast broke in half injuring two passengers near the San Juan Islands, Wash., Saturday.

The 127-foot double masted schooner was just north of Lummi Island when the incident occurred at approximately 2 p.m.

(HAILEY, Idaho) - Positive Partners Assistance Dog`s Fran Jewell A disabled Idaho veteran will soon have his or her own service dog, thanks to a new affiliation between Positive Partners Assistance Dogs, Inc. and the Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion David Ketchum Post 15.

The cost of training a service dog is approximately $25,000, and the auxiliary already has raised more than half.

The search was called off Friday due to reduced visibility

(Astoria, Oregon) - Salem-News.com The Coast Guard and local authorities have suspended the search for a boater who went missing Friday after his 14-foot boat capsized approximately one mile offshore near Waldport, Ore.

The search was suspended at 1:20 p.m. Saturday after the Coast Guard and local authorities searched for the boater throughout Friday night and Saturday.

Belching fires, choking vapors, behemoth machines and rough men. What wasn't painted safety-yellow was encrusted in orange rust. The mills were so vile that weeds wouldn't grow.
