(PATAGONIA, Argentina) -
The Ardeola ibis is actually a type of heron, but unlike most herons, it can be found away from water.
Commonly called the cattle egret, it is familiar from wildlife documentaries hitching a ride, and a lunch, on the back of a rhinoceros. Since a mere 150 years ago, it has expanded widely from its original range, and is now familiar to most of us.

Salem's desire to reestablish its image based on its name derivation from the word for Peace came a few steps closer to reality this week with the unveiling of a project to create a mosaic mural for peace in its busy downtown area.
The selected site in the north side of the Ike Box coffeehouse, once a mortunary, but since converted into a youth venue for music and socialization.

On June 16, 2010 at approximately 6:00 a.m. OSP SWAT team members were assisting with the execution of multiple search warrants in the Salem area as part of an ongoing multi-agency narcotics investigation.
Oregon State Police SWAT team members were serving one of the search warrants in northeast Salem when upon entry into a residence troopers encountered a 16-year old male who physically resisted efforts to take him into custody.

Personnel from the Crag Rats, Corvallis Mountain Rescue and Eugene Mountain Rescue, were able to successfully recover the body of Canadian climber, Robert Dale Wiebe today.
"We appreciate all of the help that we received from search and rescue volunteers", said Chief Deputy Jerry Brown. "Today's mission could not have been completed without their help."

Oregon's number two law official in 1989 was Assistant Attorney General Scott McAlister. He was later convicted of a crime related to possessing child pornography and yet is still a practicing attorney, in Tempe, Arizona. Pretty crazy isn't it?
It gets worse; for 17 years, McAlister had provided legal counsel for Oregon Corrections. This is when Oregon showed up on the radar locally and nationally for an extremely corrupt prison system.

Australian victims of child sexual abuse by Catholic priests and brothers today announced the official launch of Survivors of Clergy Abuse Australia (SCAA) with a candlelight vigil scheduled to be held at the Archibald Fountain in Hyde Park, Sydney at 5.30pm on Friday 18th July.
SCAA is a national survivors’ support and lobby group determined to put a stop to the Catholic Church cover-up of child sexual abuse.
