Sutherlin Man Arrested on 7-Year old Rape and Sex Abuse Charges

The investigation indicates the victim was abused in both Douglas and Coos counties.

(SUTHERLIN, Ore.) - Handcuffs A detective with the Oregon State Police Criminal Investigations Division arrested a Sutherlin-area man Friday afternoon for three sex offenses related to allegations involving a known juvenile female in 2002.

According to OSP Sergeant Bill Fugate, on December 18, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. OSP arrested 63-year old James M. Stanley of Sutherlin for 3rd-degree Rape, 3rd-degree Sex Abuse, and Using a Child in Display of Sexual Conduct.

Crash Involving Wrong Way Driver Kills One, Injures Four

Fatal traffic crash happened in Highway 26 in the Boring area.

(BORING, Ore.) - fatal crash near Boring Oregon 12-18-09 Oregon State Police troopers are investigating a two-vehicle head-on crash involving a wrong way driver Friday afternoon on a stretch of Highway 26 in the Boring area. Lieutenant Gregg Hastings with OSP, says one person was killed and four others injured.

Preliminary investigation indicates on December 18, 2009 at approximately 5:35 p.m. reports were coming in regarding a wrong way driver traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 26 near Boring.

Senate Democrats Applaud EPA Announcement to Follow Oregon`s Lead, Phase Out Deca-BDE

Federal agreement follows 2009 legislation to phase out chemical in Oregon.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon state capitol Senate Democrats welcomed news yesterday that the EPA had reached an agreement with chemical manufacturers to phase out a toxic, endocrine- disrupting chemical, deca brominated diphenyl ether, otherwise known as Deca-BDE.

Oregon’s Senate Bill 596, passed in the 2009 session, phases out use of the Deca-BDE in products bought and sold in the state.

(SALEM,. Ore.) - Salvation Army Christmas Eve marks the last day of The Salvation Army's 2009 Red Kettle Campaign. With one more week to go, the Salvation Army of Marion and Polk Counties is 11% short of where they were this time last year, in part due to fewer kettle locations.

Funds from this year’s Red Kettle Campaign will help sustain vital Salvation Army programs and services in the Salem, helping those in need through their daily struggle for survival.
