LPS Study Demonstrates Impact of Foreclosure Sales on Home Prices

Foreclosures in California jumped from 3% in 2006, to more tha 52 percent of all sales in California.

(JACKSONVILLE, Fla.) - Foreclosure Lender Processing Services, Inc. has announced the release of its recent nationwide study revealing the impact of foreclosure sales, also known as real estate owned sales, on home prices.

"REO sales account for as much as 60 percent of housing activity in some states," said Nima Nattagh, Ph.D., senior vice president, LPS Applied Analytics.

Police Arrest Salem Man Arrested on Multiple Assault and Sex Abuse Charges

Army Announces New Afghanistan Troop Rotation

This U.S. force rotation may be based upon changes in the security situation.

(WASHINGTON D.C.) - ANA soldiers are assembled for a Vice-Presidential visit The Army announced today the extension of a division headquarters and a combat aviation brigade in Afghanistan, as well as the future deployment of a division headquarters with recent OEF experience.

These moves are part of an initiative to place units on a habitual rotation to take advantage of their knowledge of the complex environment to which they are returning and to increase deployment stability.

Kayaking the Columbia to Help Vets Experiencing Rough Waters (AUDIO)

The kayakers plan to arrive at Ft. Stevens, Washington, on Saturday.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ONS) - Kayaker A kayaking team is traveling 130 miles of the Columbia River from Portland to the Pacific Ocean this week, to help veterans experiencing rough waters.

One of the paddlers, Portland resident Andy Maser, says the idea is to raise awareness and money for charities involved in designing innovative support programs for veterans with disabilities, such as outdoor recreation.

Historic Oregon Guard 2-162nd Infantry Regiment in Iraq

Alpha Co. is prepared to stay in Scania for the duration of their deployment.

(SCANIA, Iraq) - Soldiers from 2-162 on a previous deployment to Iraq. Alpha Company 2-162nd Infantry Regiment, Oregon National Guard, set out on their first, and last, convoy mission to Scania July 31st.

The company, driving 29 vehicles, brought personnel and their gear to Scania, a small base known as a truck stop, along Route Tampa. Alpha Co.'s mission was changed from convoy security to base security for Scania.
