BBB Predicts Change in Volume of Telemarketing Complaints

(LAKE OSWEGO, Ore.) - telephone The Federal Trade Commission recently announced a rule that prevents unsolicited "robocalls" to consumers.

Effective September 1st, 2009, most robocalls will be illegal and telemarketers must obtain permission in writing from consumers in order to make prerecorded commercial telemarketing calls. Violators can incur penalties of up to $16,000 per call.

Microwave Fire Reaches 65% Containment

Fire officials urge everyone to use extra caution when returning to areas that have been affected by the fire.

(MICROWAVE, Ore.) - Map of Microwave Fire Shortly after residents returned home from the Microwave Fire evacuation, fire crews performed successful burnout operations to strengthen containment lines on the northwest flank of the fire.

Nancy Hirsch, Incident Commander with the Oregon Department of Forestry, says the fire is now fully lined, with containment at 65% and 1,250 acres burned.

He is survived by his wife Casey and son Charles, age 19 of the Amboy, Washington area.
