Polk County Grand Jury Finds Officer Involved Shooting Justified

Joshua Bolster's death has been a controversial subject since it happened.

(DALLAS, Ore.) - Today a Polk County Grand Jury unanimously found that Polk County Sheriff's Deputy Casey Gibson was justified in using deadly force when he shot and killed 29-year old Joshua Anthony Bolster on the evening of July 5, 2016.

At approximately 9:18 p.m. that fateful night, Monmouth Police Department officers responded to a complaint from a citizen that a man, later determined to be Joshua Anthony Bolster, had threatened him with a knife that same evening.

He also pled no-contest to Possession of a Schedule 1 Controlled Substance, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Felon in Possession of a Restricted Weapon.

Time Running Out on Oregon Taxpayers with Expired Refund Checks

(SALEM, Ore.) - Thousands of taxpayers across Oregon have tax refund money awaiting them, but it'll soon be harder to get. After state checks expire, two years from their issuance date, there's a limited window of time to get them reissued before additional requirements apply.

"We still have more than 5,000 taxpayers with almost $1 million in expired checks," said Steve Bergmann, Oregon Department of Revenue accounting manager.

All outdoor burning, including ceremonial and recreational fires, will continue to be prohibited within the City of Salem. This ban is based on weather conditions and community fire safety needs. The ban will remain in effect through this week.

In January, Medical marijuana dispensaries started collecting a 25% tax on recreational marijuana sales, and as of July 31, the Department of Revenue has processed $25.5 million in marijuana tax payments.

Everybody’s happy, right? In general, yes... but that would exclude the patients of Oregon.
