Eight Red Cross disaster responders from Oregon and Southwest Washington deploy to California to help people affected by massive wildfires; Eighteen others still on the ground in Louisiana helping flood relief effort.
(PORTLAND, Ore.) -
Explosive brush fires have ripped through more than 30,000 acres in San Bernardino County. More than 86,000 people have been forced to leave their homes. An unknown number of homes could be destroyed, and there is no containment in sight.
Two Red Cross shelters provided refuge to 173 individuals affected by the Blue Cut Fire.

Extremely hot temperatures are coming to Oregon Thursday through Saturday with highs in the 80s along the Coast and near (or above) 100 inland. Critical fire weather conditions are expected to develop Thursday and continue through at least Friday night.
Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible; drink plenty of water; reschedule any outdoor activities to early morning or evening hours; anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded area.

Recently I attended an FDA Advisory Committee meeting where a new killer opioid called Arymo ER was under consideration to be unleashed in the U.S.
Lynn R. Webster, MD gave testimony and answered questions regarding the controversial extended release morphine tablet...when he had an expired license. The Advisory Committee may want to reconsider their recommendation of Arymo ER because they appear to have been misled (whether deliberately or not) and this could fall under the category of "unethical" or "criminal".

(PORTLAND, Ore.) -
During the week of August 7 to August 12, 2016, the Portland Police Bureau's Sex Trafficking Unit conducted undercover missions to address online sex trafficking.
Investigators posted online ads on known sex trafficking websites. 28 men contacted undercover police officers to arrange payment for sexual acts. Investigators were assisted by Portland area hotels as part of this effort.

One Killed and One Seriously Injured After Police Chase on Hwy 30

Police say they had stopped chasing him before the crash.
(ST HELENS, Ore.) -
A Scappoose City Police officer attempted to pull over a 2004 Toyota Highlander in relation to a driving complaint on Highway 30 at about 12:54 p.m. The operator of the Toyota Highlander initially pulled over and then fled the stop westbound.
Three minutes later, after the pursuit had been terminated, the Toyota crashed into the back of a westbound 2012 Honda Civic.
